Why change a formula that works? The gyoji accepts the balance between the rikishi, he doesn’t call the tachi-ai. I don’t understand this weird version of sumo. It takes away the advantage from the rikishi to choose his starting position.

The gyoji calls the tachiai in amateur sumo aka amazumo. This is not grand sumo or ozumo.
