Pre-injury D. Rose was a different beast. Some of ya'll just had to witness it in real time. He was a top 5 player in his 2nd and 3rd season. He took the nba champs 7 games in his first playoff appearance rookie season. He was the best player in that series. If he never got hurt, the bulls would have won 2-3 rings in his prime. He was a silent killer.
@Tao-fp3yr14 күн бұрын
Idk bout 2-3 but for sure at least one. It’s haaaarrrdddd to win 2-3 in any era but in his? With Champ level prime LeBron, aging but Tactical Spurs, emerging OKC, etc. before the rise of Steph? Would have been mad hard to get a second let alone a third. But definitely would have obtained at least one with a hope for 2.

I agree I would’ve loved a rose/butler duo had they both been on the same page. But thibs also kept jimmy on the bench his first year and second year just gave him defensive assignments such as guarding LeBron. Once rose went down, jimmy got more minutes out of necessity. But once jimmy did become good, he kinda took over the team while rose was still coming back from injuries. The Chicago media always painted it as the two didn’t get along and didn’t help that gar/pax were trying to get rid of thibs atp.

If DRose NEVER got hurt? My answer to that question is as follows: 1. LeBron’ career and accolades would be WAY fewer. Lebron would have fewer rings, fewer MVP trophies and fewer trips to the Finals. LeBron is very lucky that DRose got hurt! Don’t believe me? Look at highlights of when they faced each other, especially in the playoffs! 2. DRose would have been in the greatest point guard AND GOAT discussion. Before he was hurt, you saw improvement in his overall game very early on, especially his mid range and 3-point shooting. 3. He showed no fear and had clutch moments very early. His athleticism was insane! Love you Pooh and I can’t wait to see what’s next for you in retirement!

I'm glad they mentioned the other great PG's from that era, because I remember a lot of the talk about D-Rose early on was about how he was good, but he wouldn't be one of the elite PG's in the game. He was constantly being compared against CP3, D-Will and them, and people were talking about how guys like Brandon Jennings, Tyreke Evans, John Wall and Kyrie were going to surpass him. Rose wasn't concerned with that talk. Everybody was out there trying to compare him with all of the other PG's in the game, Rose was out there trying to show everybody that he wasn't trying to be the best PG, he was fighting to be the best player in the whole-ass WORLD. He went at Kobe, he went at Bron, he went at Howard, he went at Melo, he went at the big 3 in Boston, there wasn't anybody that he didn't shine AT LEAST as bright as when they were on the court together. He was a HUGE part of redefining the PG position for the league. He wasn't out there to just set the table for the stars, he WAS the star.
