Hard to find 9-6 machine in Vegas. I sat down at the bar that showed 9-6 on the screen, but when I put in my $20, a 7-4 popped up. Played but didn't do well. Any thoughts on how to verify the odds? Thanks, great job & good luck always.

The machine was probably cycling through the games in “attract mode” and it was showing something like 9/6 Double Bonus. Once you inserted credits and selected Jacks or Better, it showed the correct pay table set for that game. That’s my guess anyway. What do you mean by verify the odds? You mean the payback for a specific pay table?Please clarify.

Thanks, Mike. How to identify the odds for the different video poker games. Is there a table? I think I remember seeing something like that. What would be the better video poker games based on the odds like a 9-6 machinw. Thanks as always.

I often reference the www.wizardofodds.com website in my videos. You can find a list of pay tables and strategy charts for each video poker game there.

I don't know who's stupider, people who question blackjack basic strategy or those who question VP optimal strategy. Both strategies have been devised by computer through exhaustive analysis of all the possible combinations of plays and their outcomes, they are simply not debatable. You can ask why it's the case in order to better understand why a certain play is correct, but you cannot question the validity of the play itself, it is a mathematical fact. Also mind you that ALL plays are based on probability, there are no certainties in gambling, you are simply playing the best odds possible for any given situation. And even if you have a 99% chance of winning(something which would never happen) you could still lose. I'm glad you have the patience to answer such questions, I would tell people to read some books and get good software, and stop thinking their heuristic reasoning and simplistic analyses are better than the results of detailed computer analysis which probably cost millions of dollars originally and was conducted by mathematicians, scientists, statisticians, and computer programmers.

I'm thinking seriously about making a visit to Vegas with the sole intent of making money gambling and want to ask you a quick question. I don't want to put you on the spot, but may I ask what you make of all the people(particularly those who comment on YT videos) who say things like they win every time they play, or almost every time, thousands of dollars a week, every week of the year, and never put more than like $200 in the machine? I find it hard to believe, but yet they are saying it. I question it but wonder why they would lie about it, what do they have to gain? My doctor even told me once that he hits a Royal Flush every time he goes to Vegas; how is that possible? I've bought the books and software to learn how to play the optimal strategy and know the chance of getting a Royal Flush in JoB is about 1 in 40,000 on average(if one plays the optimal strategy) so even if someone plays 800 hands an hour, it would take 50 hours just to have a decent, fair/average chance of hitting the Royal, but because of variance it could easily go through two or three cycles without hitting. When I hear/read stories from people talking about how they win all the time it makes me wonder if they know something I don't and if I'm doing something wrong. I mean, I simply play the game by the book, as closely as I can to perfect like a computer would(I can tell you when to break a high pair, extremely rarely, and when to hold 4 to an inside straight, again, extremely rarely in JoB) but yet I still lose a lot; how can they possibly win as much as they do, or as much as they claim to? Do such stories ever phase you, or do you just dismiss them all as BS?

This is the second time you have posted this comment. I have not received many of those comments on my videos. Occasionally, someone might mention getting a royal flush or 4 aces in the comments. If it's true, good for them! If not, then whatever. I don't dwell on it.
@mydogskips26 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is, but I received no answer initially and thought it would be more appropriate posted here as it is a video for FAQs. Your videos may not have such comments, but I have seen many others that do. I know the math, how difficult it is to win a VP, be it at JoB, DW, DB, DDB, TDB, whatever, but I personally find it frustrating and disheartening to hear there are people who probably don't know all the intricate details of the game who win a lot of real money on a regular basis while I lose a lot in practice sessions. You don't wonder, even a little bit, about how these people make the money they claim to? You may not dwell on it, but I'd like to know how they make thousands a week, something which defies the math, while I play as close to perfectly as possible and lose hundreds.

If people are telling you that they win all the time, they probably don’t. We humans can have selection bias and only remember the times where we had big wins and think that we always win. If it was that easy, there would be more pros playing in Vegas than there are now. If you are still considering a trip to Vegas, make sure you are properly bankrolled and have the discipline to play properly through the ups and downs. Based on your comments, you seem to be quite knowledgeable about video poker, which is good!

Thanks for your Videos Mike......I'm not gonna watch this whole video.....My question is for Triple Double Bonus Poker.....if you have a pair of 2, 3 or 4 and four to a flush......do you go for the Flush or hold the pair (since payout is bigger than in double double bonus poker) ? Thanks
