Since the bars are 80lbs each in this cave, the cave is near a trail that a wagon would be riding along. So this cave is visible from a road/trail. Thus is what the petroglyphs would have on that wall. A landmark of a trail system west of Cove Fort.

Jquest what a ignorant comment to make on such a great positive comment from someone else. For one thing he said they had many adventures he didn’t say they had many treasure recoveries. The cliche that the real treasure is in the looking not the finding is actually true on many levels. And finally when real treasure hunters find gold do you really think they tell people lol. Thought so :)!

I have been doing treasure research for a few years now. I travel the southwest, looking for sites of interest and doing research on the history of these areas. I feel I have a great deal to offer in the way of hands on assistance. I would make a valuable asset to any team you may assemble in the future. I travel constantly in a self contained camper with a dirt bike, tools, solar power, and much more. I cannot offer any financial assistance at this time. The first discovery will indeed fund all future endeavors....Thank you for your time, Dan. Your stories are deeply interesting...and thank you, Terry for interviewing this interesting man.

After 1934 and up to 1974 the US was taken off the gold standard with silver standard as the replacement for backing of the US dollar. During this 40 year period it was illegal for US citizens to have more than five-ounces of gold in their possession, including jewelry coins, and bars. To hold and control more than five-ounce of gold you had to have a special federal licence for such matters of gold as mining byproducts, jewelry stores, gold storage areas for domestic and world nassesaties. It was wise to leave the gold in place for the time being, ensuring no criminal legal proceedings against him or his relatives.. Unfortunately, Dan Lowe's great uncle could never again locate his gold bars. At the time just after the great depression, his gun was of more value than all of the gold stash that could never be legally sold or traded. Not everybody of that time wanted to be another Al Capone !

So, Dan, how did your mother's uncle know that the gold bars weighed 80 pounds? And how did the Piute Elders know they weighed 80 pounds? Is there a set of weighing scales stashed with the gold bars so when someone finds them, they can weigh them? Or did these people all just happen to guess the same number? I don't think I could tell the difference anywhere between 70 and 90 pounds if I lifted one of those bars.

@michaelfercik3691 Жыл бұрын
There are a dozen deer hunting mine or treasure find stories in Utah. Research beyond the story if possible, then learn the physics involved in dowsing through the book, The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition ($14.95), by Michael Fercik. Then go dowsing for gold around the areas mentioned in the story, because it only takes one story to be factually true for rewarding a massive amount of gold. Beware of the Antiquities Law, documented ownership, and other laws that might take all of the gold found. A lost gold mine can be located the same way with a whole different set of laws to go by, such as withdrawn from mineral entry, open federal or state claiming or leasing on it by someone else, and possible homesteading into private property after the timeline of the story. Good luck with your researching leading to actual searches. Beware, it can be fun and expensive- tortuous at the same time.
