It's technically semi-edible. Not poisonous until you consume massive amounts. But it's definitely not good for you and not good for your teeth either. Before, toothpaste was in fact recommended to be ingested like a pill or something, but it made the teeth issues worse until they discovered you had to directly apply the stuff to your teeth.
