Some of us Americans are from states/areas where spicy food is normal. My little city, for instance, has a lot of Thai restaurants so a lot of people have built up some resistance (plus we're on the I-5 corridor so we get a lot of Mexican food). Joe is from Nashville Tennessee, he's probably just as used to spicy food.

That's so weird that everyone thinks Joe Hills didn't look bothered. I think he looked very bothered, but he was playing it off. When he first bit and he did the big talk it hadn't hit him yet, but as time went on he just zoned out and went to some internal place to escape the pain. As someone who has tried carolina reapers, I relate to that so much, I can see he's really feeling it. And he ran off so quick, and was gone from his chat for a loooong time. I think it's Joe's personality, that he doesn't express emotions. But in me eyes, he seemed to be one of the worst hit. He just didn't express it.

Marmite spread *very thinly* on top of some good cheddar cheese and grilled atop some toast is absolutely delicious. The big mistake people make is that they spread it thickly like jam/jelly when it should be a thin smear, almost translucent, otherwise it will overpower EVERYTHING with a salty umami (savoury) taste. Oh, and Marmite crisps (chips) are top tier.

two months late, but if I'm remembering correctly, several of the hermits had some food together friday night. grian had cauliflower, and he apparently was the only one who thought that it was really spicy. (pearl also says it wasn't spicy after grian claims it was). so impulse was expecting him to struggle a lot more with the hot sauces than he did

I love these guys doing the Hot Ones challenge. I have a negative value when it comes to my capsaicin tolerance but hot sauce always looks so incredibly delicious... thanks for the entertainment, the vicarious eating, and also the reminder of the extreme pain that awaits me should I put too much pepper on my dinner!
