*Clunk* Wright Streetlite - Confused Voith Gearbox

It should be remembered that these Streetlites don't have a kickdown of any sort. The only way to get one to change down on a hill like this is to confuse the gearbox by playing with the accelerator pedal, however this does result in a rather vicious clunk when the gearbox does eventually realise what the driver is up to and changes up again.
INFO ABOUT THE VEHICLE:
NK15 AAE is a Wright Streetlite with the fleet number of 1590 operated out of Faverdale depot by Arriva North East, it wears Arriva's MAX livery which is designated to Arriva's "limited stop routes" or as most of us call them, express routes. Unlike the vast majority of MAX specification vehicles throughout the country these 5 Streetlites operated out of Darlington have the added provision of plug sockets, normally something that is reserved for "Sapphire" vehicles. 1590 can be seen here

+LVideo1000 Seems to be a problem very much with the Cummins ones haha. Never experienced or heard of it on the Daimler powered ones, plus the Daimler ones are faster and smoother :D

I am an Ex First bus driver. Voiths are the worst of all the automatic bus transmissions they deserve to get chucked in the bin. They are the Jerkiest in the range. They can't decide what gear is too low and too high (They end up with confused changing). They sometimes over-rev the engine before changing gear which jerks passengers backwards. And all the stupid squealy electric foot retarders are a hit and a miss as to what 'Slowing down' quality they produce. 50% of Voiths are smooth to the touch of the pedal. The other 50% 'Snatch' the bus and jerk it to slow it down.

+1ns4ne1d10t Exactly ZF's are the best or Allison but Voith they're full of jolting/jerking. Volvo IShift (12spd) is the best smooth as silk and plenty of torque (with the right engine)

i honestly dont understand how VDL can get what is supposed to be the same sort of gearbox to be nice and smooth (most the time) and them Wrightbus just fucks up to such an extent it's in its own league of badness. Even more astonishing that Voith nor Wrights has done anything about the problem which surely must be well pointed out by now

+BusThrash Couldn't agree more, I mean our Euro 5 Pulsars (63 plates) are lovely and smooth now they're run in. The only time where they clunk and go crazy is when a driver applies the kickdown immediately after they have already done so and it's changed up. It sounds stupid, but I've never seem the Daimler Streetlites do this, the gearbox seems much happier with that engine for some reason...

Voith don't make gearboxes for small buses. They make gearboxes for big engines and trains. These use ZF

@@DaleSteel bro. Every Enviro 200 MMC in London from 2017 onwards has a voith so that’s cap. Every streetlite in London has a voith gearbox so that’s cap. Every enviro 200 at Stagecoach in Britain from 2010 onwards is a voith. Come on now bro. And those buses have voith gearboxes. ZF makes 5/6 speed gearboxes. Voith makes 3/4 speeds. This is a 4 speed. Voith gearboxed engines also have a whine that you hear every time you accelerate and slow down. That whine is in this video. This ain’t a ZF
