Clusia Hedges Planted for Privacy

Watch how we transformed our backyard by removing old trees and plants that didn’t make sense (to me). The nursery had the clusia plants for $18. They average between $19 to $22 depending on the location. We purchased a total of 32 which totaled $576. My landscaper picked the plants up delivered them and installed them for $300. You can easily do it yourself if you don’t mind digging!

What spacing did you use? I use 3' to 5' from the center, some use much more to allow them to grow properly and not smother. I also prune my hedge twice a year to keep the center thick. Iguanas chew on this hedge if you have any. My clusia hedge was 14' tall and 50' wide. HOA rules state my clusia hedge can be a maximum of 10' tall which is the current height. I love this plant for a privacy hedge. Enjoy your clusia privacy hedge!

Clusia are known to be drought-tolerant. So they should be fine if you can't water them

No that’s how they actually grew in those few months. They are much bigger now
