Great video. Truly appreciate the time you spent making the video.

Mr. Lloyd, I would suggest that you inform the viewers that once the factory sets the clutch linkage geometry, the only adjustment necessary after that to obtain the recommended clutch pedal free play is to adjust the clutch near the release bearing. I have seen mechanics attempt to set the clutch brake with linkage adjustments -- bad news. Excellent video series.

Chad Jessup not true after the 1/2 inch adjustment is made you adjust the gap in between the throw out bearing and the fork to 1/8 inch you achieve this by adjusting linkage. You then check to assure that the free play is 1 1/2 to 2 inches!

I had a new clutch installed last week. I work in the oil fields and getting to a shop isn't easy. my new clutch is working it's way to the floorboard. I am adjusting it back out using the clutch quick adjust. why is it un-adjusting ?

I have to hold the clutch pedal pressed down for several serconds in order to engage in gear, in this case i need to turn the bolt clockwise, how many half turns? Thanx you

I adjusted my International Prostar Eaton Clutch/Eaton 10speed and the clutch brake does not engage. Freeplay correct, tried 2", 1", 1/2" still not engaging. Please advise.

Newbie question. What is than cable hanging from clutch brake? Thanks.

+Alex Cataraga that is an extension hose so you can grease the through out bearing , without having to reach way up there , on older trucks that becomes quite messy , so again that greases the bearing , and half way up the transmission bell housing there is a fitting on both side's to grease the cross shaft , often missed ! Does this apply to 2014 mack granite as well
@RHILTONJR10010 жыл бұрын
Yes it does apply for the Mack clutches as well. But much harder to access the adjuster. As you look up inside and see bearing and clutch brake you will see the clutch fork covering the gap. As the clutch is depressed to release for adjustment the fork will travel forward towards the adjuster. In some cases blocking your ratchet from accessing the adjuster. If this is the case a wrench can be used, although it can be a slow process. ( a word of CAUTION if your having someone in the cab depressing the clutch for you. THE CLUTCH FORK TRAVELING FORWARD CAN TAKE FINGERS OFF.) use the proper tools to keep hands and fingers clear and use good communication with the person helping you.The gap is 1/2" bet5ween brake and bearing. Work slowly. The clutch brake adjustment is totally different. As you will notice its a cable and not linkage. Set your clutch brake depth by threading or unthreading the clevis yolk attached to the clutch arm . You can also adjust the cable itself by releasing the jam nuts. These adjustments are all done from underneath. This can be very tricky to set the adjustment as the tolerances are very fine. Good luck, work safe!

Good vid, but your not including your cluding what gap to set your adjustment. Turn your adjuster until you have a 1/2" gap between your clutch brake and bearing. I found a 1/2" bolt as a good measuring device. Place the bolt on the threaded end in the gap. Turn the adjuster until the bolt fits between the gap. Now your "internal adjustment is set. Then move on to your "external or linkage adjustment" to set you clutch brake.

Man adj the clutch for wear does not have a thing to do with free travel you get 1/2 inch between the throw out bearing and clutch brake then you get your free travel from the top adj linkage.
