For me the #1 feature on a mechanical pencil is pocket safe so for me personally my top choice is pentel kerry the cap protects my pockets from holes.

Papermate clearpoint elite hits all the technical features for me: full size twist eraser, conical non- scratch tube, retracting tip, pocket safe, quick click. Unfortunately, it's a C/D on ergonomics: plastic, embedded squishy bits, not ideal grip shape.

I don't have a top 10 list because I only have 5 mechanical pencils XD I bought a faber castell and used it for about 7 years before it's broken. Got a staedtler triplus micro about 3 years ago (was having minor problems with the faber castell pencil at the time, so bought this one as a backup). It's a little bit worn but still works fine. Bought a pack of bic from dollar store because I left my pencil case at home and ended up needing a pencil that day (I count them as one pencil because they're all the same). Bought a zebra delguard and a kuru toga because they're doing collaboration with different shows and animes and I'm buying them as character merch. Ironically they turn out to be the best pencils I've ever owned. It's the first time I have pencils with tips that don't wiggle. I'm so used to wiggling tips I was kinda surprised by how solid those pencils are built. I know they're plastic and I was actually expecting something flimsy (as most of the merch are), but, well, that's a good surprise. I'm very glad.

You need to check out the UniBall 207 Mechanical Pencil in 0.5mm I think you'll find it to be pretty awesome for it's price.

Is the Spoke 6 back to using the Sharp mechanism/tip? I think they had switched to the Stein for the Spoke 5 (smooth tip instead of with the ridge). I'll have to think about another Spoke - I do like the appearance and weight, my only complaint is they roll around!

I would love to hear your thoughts on the Pentel Graphgear 500 if you have used this model and, if so, why do you prefer the Orenz? I've never used the latter but it looks very similar to the Graphgear 500 which is my personal favorite mechanical pencil (with the Kerry in close 2nd). Thank you for sharing your favorites, and congratulations on your new career!

All the Graphgears are solid. If you prefer a fixed lead sleeve, 500 is a great option! I preferred a sliding, retractable sleeve.

I don't think Tactile Turn is making the color Aluminum bodies any more. I think I asked them months ago and they could not get the Aluminum to hold its shape. (or something like that). Your green TT pencil is now a collector's item.

Awesome list. Recently picked up the Spoke 4 titanium a few months ago. Has become my favorite pencil by far. I love the grip personally. Might have to consider getting a Spoke 6 once they restock new colorways since you rated it so highly Also when can we expect a solo review for the Spoke 6?

I looked its pictures and its like an ordinary pencil. Its grip? The grip surface should not be rough. When you hold the pen you never feel its weight , its surface or its clip. The Ideal pen should have these features

As usual, nice video, well built with clear criteria for classification. I come to you to receive feedback/recommendation on mechanical pencils (0.5 or 0.7mm lead size) but with a thick body grip, greater than 12mm. I have seen the models of automatic pencil collection of e+m (Arrow, Drake, Bow) that would fit in what I am looking for. Could you please reply with some comments on this e+m pencils? What others do you know and suggest into this segment of 12mm+ body grip? Thanks in advance

I have a old Shaffer that you have to twist the body to advance the lead. Can one pencil use different size lead? How to refill? The video "how to refill ANY mechanical pencil" didn't seem to work for this one. When empty, a lil metal pin pokes out a couple of thousandth when twisted out all the way. Help me figure out how to get this old boy working again.

Zebra z-grip 5.master touch's #hb pencils 6. Prismacolor col-erase pencils 7.dollar tree lead pencils 8. Pen and gear mechinal pencils 9.America's penci u.s.a. gold pencils 10.inc.softscripts mechinal pencils these ate my favs too!I never heard or seen any of these I sadly don't know how to order online can't get these😣but it's ok I don't need a fancy pencil to write my books or fanfics I love watching your videos tbh!

I really like the pentel kerry mechanical So many choices of color the main are red blue black and like a gray for .5 and navy blue and black for .7 They also have limited edition colors like gold orange blueberry blue and others

Man i just noticed your handwriting is very similar to mine. I noticed i had nerly thw exact same handwriting as my dad, excwo my #2's. I used tk do them without the loop at the bottom and used a straight line like my dads,but i remember changing to the loop like you do since everyone else did that. Wonder if we could be related ( just jabbering no big deal)

In the US, you could also buy 3 pencils for $1.00 . I think most Americans would consider $15 a very expensive pencil, but for a really high quality mechanical pencil, $15 is relatively cheap.

The (minor) issues with the GG1000 are the grip, balance and tip wobble. Every other pen on the list that has a retractable wobbly tip has other features to make up for it. Still, the Staedtler 925 and GG1000 probably the highest quality on a budget.
