Other enthusiasts present: Connor (@Thunderbolt1000Tfan ), Aaron (@OhioOutdoorWarningSirens )
Other notes: After the Jackson Park 'bolt, we went to Clyde to hear this infamous 3T22 in person. Most of you probably already know what the deal is with this thing, but for those that don't, the dampers are wired to shut whenever power is applied to the chopper motor. It's not very loud when the dampers are shut, but when they open it gets a lot louder. This month, Clyde did attack but no alert, just like in August of last year. I don't think the cameras picked it up very well, but this thing put out AWESOME echoes! Unfortunately, the batteries fell out of my decibel meter, and I didn't realize it until about a minute before the test, so I was unable to get a decibel reading from this one. Connor still got readings from his meter though; it read 105.1 dBC from where he and Aaron were set up (around 150-200 feet away), and maxed at 119.4 from right underneath, both with the dampers open. It was particularly loud from underneath when the dampers were open, we could all really feel it rattling our bodies. I've been wanting to go to this for some time now because I wanted to hear it in person and I also wanted to get a shot where you can see the dampers close and open. To my knowledge, only one other video of this has a shot of the damper, and even that only shows the damper opening after the alert cycle. I used my 620 for the damper shot, so there is no wide shot in this video. Anyways, this was a super cool experience to hear up close, and I'm very glad that I finally got to hear this in person and that I was able to get a successful damper shot during the full duration of the test. Enjoy!
