4903 has a side skirt from below the walkway and the second batch of 49's didn't have it. We used to call them baby yum yums due to the sound they made at idle. The cab side windows were tinted and unlike the 47's a bit cramped. But the 49's were far more reliable then the 47's because the railways changed their cooling system from a pressurised system to a vented system and it caused no end of problems.

yes grain hoppers .see bottom discharge doors. not flour or starch which would be carried in pressure tanks

See all the birds fly up as thd train moves .they are eating the grain which has been spilt on top of the hopper when loaded.. plus you CAN NOT transport powder in a wagon with bottom discharge doors
