Possibly, but I think it's also useful to show which markets are over-charging. Taxes can be an issue in some markets, seeming lack of competition and greed may be an issue in some/others. I favour sunlight.

Great review Geoff! I’m a Clynelish fan so if I see the DE I’ll grab one but probably not two. I’ve pretty much given up on Talisker and nowadays when I want something coastal and briny with a little peat and a great mouthfeel I go for Old Pulteney Huddart.

Thanks for the review Geoff. The CDE is around £95 in the UK and the TDE is £65 so that’ll be a “no” from me on both bottles. If I ever get to Thailand though…🥃🙂

I like the head-to-head comparison video. I don't remember seeing the Clynelish DE here, we have a special release with a 10-year-old age statement that is around $175 NZD. The Talisker is available at around $130. Cheers!

Hi Geoff! Never knew that Clynelish DE even existed before this video! Chances are if it ever became available here it would likely be in 200$ range considering that the Talisker DE is now at 155$. I'm lucky to have picked up a couple of older bottlings of the Talisker DE (2020, 2021) before the rebranding and price increase. On a side note, I tried the Cragganmore DE a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty is was, would never have guessed it was a 40% abv whisky! Sweet, fruity and not thin at all. Easily one of the best 40% scotches I can remember. Cheers!

Hello Geoff, I bought recently a TaliskerDE. It was the first try since the new Design. I had and loved the old one very much and i expected it to be a little different because of the Years gone by, but i found a totally different Whisky. Its still good but not as godd as i remembered. Unfortunately the Clynelish DE is not available here in Germany. Thanks for sharing your Thoughts and Opinion about these Bottlings. Greets from Germany 😎 🤘

Hi Geoff, the Clynelish D.E. hasn’t showed up in retail here in Euroland for at least the last 5 years or so. The pics on Whiskybase of the Clynelish D.E. bottled in 2022 shows MHD Hong Kong as importer and distributor. I reckon Diageo only released it in certain markets in Asia. 😢

Haha. There’s a bottle of the Fire Cat at my shop I occasionally stare at but I think I’ve been scared away by the consistently underwhelmed reviews. That and the price: $200 USD.

Saw these on the shelf today funnily enough, and was wondering about them. I don’t think I’m sold on the whole cask finishing style in general. Iv had a lot that work from IBs who have no choice but to re-rack the stock that distilleries don’t want, but these office ‘limited editions’ can be quite dull I think. But I will look out for the Clynlish if it’s something a bit different. I agree about the 14, it’s getting less interesting and more expensive each year.

Hey G, Don't know if you've tried them yet but LOCHLEA is a great whisky in my opinion. They grow their own barley & I believe family owned distillery. The Sherry version is my favorite of their range.

I really liked the Talisker last year, when it was €57 in Sweden, but in a couple of weeks it'll be back on the shelves at €69. Meanwhile, the Ardnamurhcan Sherry Cask has dropped from €57 to €52, so I might pick up one of those when I feel the sherry urge. Or both. We'll see. Probably both.

@@Gwhisky I admit I am used to it Geoff! Joel (husband!! - best friend!! - amazing dude!!) and I were laughing and saying, "Is that a good thing?!!" I am off to Alberta and I will be in bliss in Calgary and Edmonton finding delicious expressions at a cheaper price!! :-) Scotch Malt Whisky Society - can't wait to pick some up in Calgary!! 🙂That's where I signed up as a member!

I still need to try anything Clynelish. The 14 is $80 in my market and as a brand has never caught my attention. $80 I'm more likely to spend that on an American single malt. I've tried TaliskerDE and have archive vials of the old 10. Love the flovor in the 10. The DE to me, in the single pour i had less than a year ago, was the 10 slightly richer and a bit broader. $22 for the pour. $95 for a bottle.

Yeah the Clynelish was last released in 2022, and from what I here the bulk of those bottles went to Asia. I'm not sure if it's discontinued or not, but it's "on a break" at the very least. Cheers! 🥃

Not sure there was a recent Clynelish DE release? Certainly not here in the UK, it is not available. Could the version you tried be an older release that is still around in Taiwan? I don't remember seeing a Clynelish DE when Diageo release the latest releases, definitely not in 2023 or 2024.

i had a Talisker DE from the 2006-2016 bottling, and recently the new bottle during a tasting. it has gotten much, much worse. still a decent whisky, but not the mindblower it used to be.

I thought the Juicy Fruit waxiness is Clynelish's trademark note. I like Talisker 10 over Clynelish 14, which I find less complex

Interesting. I can't tell you what the Clynelish goes for in my market (Florida), because I don't think I've seen it in my market, at least not within the last year or two. I haven't seen it anywhere in the U.S. within the last year or two. Looks like Diageo last released it in 2022, so maybe it is discontinued or on hiatus. Even the Game of Thrones Clynelish is easier to find than this.
