Whatever happened to him in his early life was clearly traumatic and damaging for him and it created a lot of his problems. It’s not that easy for someone with a messed-up childhood or bad parents to just get over that. When you live through that, you need guidance and counseling and mental health support to manage your emotions. Maybe he hasn’t done that, or maybe he has and is working on it. Whatever the case, it’s not for you or me or anyone else to judge him on that.

He did say he was an alcoholic who eventually recovered and have been on good terms, this is what he said in one of his shoots from 2004. No idea about his status with his mother now.
