I was thrilled to see this again....i was in my 20's when this aired and my late father watched it too...he got a kick out of Paul Linde who had our last name "Cosgrove" in this special... This brought back fond memories. i wish they made Christmas specials like this today!

this is a gem, Paul is more "serious" here and really shows his acting skills more then being silly/funny-miss him much

A Christmas special with Paul Lynde? Who would’ve guessed it?! I never knew this existed. I’m not sure I would call it a classic, but it was a delight at the end. If only I could’ve seen the last five minutes in hi_definition with all the candles and snow. But I’m grateful to the person who recorded it and posted it here. Thanks for the memories!

I remember this airing when I was a kid and it never aired again, apparently because of its poor critical and commercial reception. This is the first time in 40 years I have seen this and it brings back fond memories. Paul Lynde gives probably the finest recitation of the poem I've ever heard.

Apparently it wasn't well remembered with those involved either, I reached out to the gentleman who did the music for the production as I've always enjoyed it. And was hoping to get recordings of it. It was one of his first jobs and didn't even remember doing it.
