I had been a translator for the U.S. army for 5 years in Afghanistan. Your leadership had no other option. These people (the U.S. backed democratic government) proved to be the most corrupt human beings the country had ever seen. However, replacing them with the Taliban was the U.S.'s mistake that you should feel deeply sorry for.

Don’t be so dramatic lads. Don’t apologise. Your government did not abandoned. US and NATO lost a war after 20 long years. This little goats son ahmad masoods father killed over 70k people in Kabul after the soviets were kicked out. Shawn Ryan did not do a background check on this person. Just listening to his bullshit and makes you guys believe him blindfolded.

Shawn, whether or not you read/see this; as a first generation American-Afghan, it’s truly heartwarming and a relief to see this interview take place. I’ve never commented on any video before but am proud to make this one as it’s one that brought tears. Afghanistan and its people are unlike any, esp. compared to its neighbors. As a long time listener, it’s so gratifying to witness the support of fellow Americans to understanding the true nature/spirit of the Afghan people. The pain the diaspora felt in August 2021, was a pain of the heart. The pain of knowing you were lucky to have made it out, only to see the children who weren’t fortunate enough, suffer is one of the gut wrenching feelings of helplessness. Hearing Cmdr. Ahmad Massoud describe the pain of the people in country, was head on. Thank you Shawn, for sharing our story, caring to understand, and for listening. Afghanistan and Afghans are wildly misunderstood. Thank you for giving a glimpse inside the hearts of a world that exists only in the memory our parents know, that of a country that once was. I just hope everyone who watches this sees the same. God bless

No we don't. American service members didn't abandon anybody, brandon did. American service members don't make policies, P.O.S. politicians do. What did you want them to do.....stay? Well you're in luck because a lot did, and went back. I'm not a Veteran either and I'm also a Patriot. I think we need to put the blame where it belongs, right in brandon's lap. American service members do not own an apology to the Afghan people, brandon does. But the sentiment of wanting to take that responsibility shows the honor and character of Men like Shawn. He is the kind of American that makes me truly proud to be American. I just don't think that we owe an apology, that P.O.S. brandon does. A little side note that kinda just popped in my head, I can just imagine what those offspring of the devil terrorists are saying to all the other terrorists in the making..."look we made the Americans apologize". I'm not taking about the Commander. I'm taking about taliban and isis and alqueda

Paying our enemy. Paying those who caused the deaths of 343 of my brother and sister Firefighters on that day, the hundreds more who died in the years since of illnesses related to that day, the 49 Port Authority Police Officers, and of the 2,977 innocent civilians, and the thousands of military members who gave their lives. Ignoring this warning will cost more than we can afford to pay. As patriotic Americans, we must put a stop to this. Thank you, Shawn, for bringing this warning to light. Makes u wonder why Trump negotiated the fate of Afghanistan with the enemy w/o including the Afghan govt we sacrificed so much to create. Makes u wonder why Trump CUT US forced to 2500 troops WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY RELEASING 5000 TALIBAN SOLDIERS! Trump surrendered to the EXACT ppl who had killed so many US troops. He LITERALLY handed the entire country of Afghanistan to the very enemy our boys sacrificed so much fighting against. It was DT that set the unrealistic withdraw date that Biden was forced to abide by. It was Republican senators that would not confirm a defense Secretary to help facilitate such a monumental task as a complete withdraw. Biden put the blame on HIMSELF publicly without even MENTIONING trump bc he not a coward & knows what honor is. Imagine trump NOT blaming anything & everything BUT himself if he was handed a shit sandwich & forced to eat it with his hands tied behind his back. If ur not familiar with the details I’ve mentioned, PLEASE do some research as I promise u it’s all easily verifiable. The withdraw was HORRIBLE & shameful but it WAS facilitated & negotiated by Trump. HE is the ONLY one responsible for surrendering a decades long war effort to the enemies we fought the war against. BE VERY CLEAR ABT THAT!💯

I was thinking the same thing, too. Here's what I wrote to someone else: "30:42 -- Wait a minute. I had to listen to this part again to make sure I heard this right. So let me get this straight ..... $40M to $80M going to the Afghanistan region. Another $4B (or possibly even more) going to Ukraine. On top of that I think I've heard from elsewhere that some (unconfirmed), undisclosed sum of money is going to one of the African continent Nations, too 😠. All of this 💵 going out of the U.S. border and U.S. coffers. No receipts. No show for exactly WHAT that 💸 is B N used 4. No agreement in place to get any of that largent, back. Am I hearing that correctly? Well hell..... No wonder everybody comes to us looking for $$. Everybody knows that we're probably the only country on the planet that's gullible (or dumb) enough to just give out FREE money..... hand over fist. Over and above the interests of our own citizens. God, Shawn. That had to hurt sitting there hearing that😢😢. It pains me for you just to hear it for myself. I hope he understands that all this money that's ( 💸 ) free flowing out of U.S. hands is NOT information that was shared with the American people. We were never told about any of this ahead of time nor, were we in general ever briefed about the financial arrangements of these deals. 🎶 "Is anybody there. Does anybody, care" 🎶. Meanwhile.....we allow homelessness, hunger, high prices, and 'food deserts' to appear. Not to mention crime, social problems in schools to proliferate. Here in this country we've watched churches / religion, education, and almost suffered the collapse of our own gov't. Yet, we are willing to pay out the 'wazoo' to buoy and prop up other nations that won't B able to pay us back until the '12th of Never'. Tell me I'm wrong 😢".

Cmdr Massoud, you have the apologies of many who swore things would be different. I landed in Kabul not long after your father died. Twenty years later, Afghanistan is tough on many of us and is an unfortunate direct example of how a few bad leaders could damage something that could have been so positive on so many levels. I pray Trump retakes Bagram Air Base within the first 100 days of his return to office. Our faith, desire for truth, and new sense of human decency can unite us all. All the best to you and your families, Cmdr. Massoud and Shawn. Shawn your show is growing in amazing ways and vital for a new renaissance. Godspeed

@@brandonrowland819IT WAS DONALD TRUMP THAT NEGOTIATED THE FATE OF THE COUNTRY OF AFGHANISTAN WITHOUT INCLUDING THE GOVERNMENT THAT WE FOUGHT FOR DECADES TO BUILD & SUPPORT! IT WAS TRUMP WHO REDUCED FORCES TO 2500 & SIMULTANEOUSLY FREED 5000 TALIBAN SOLDIERS. THE EXACT SOLDIERS THAT KILLED SO MANY AMERICAN HEROS. IT WAS TRUMP WHO SET & AGREED TO A PREMATURE DATE TO WITHDRAW. IT WAS REPUB SENATORS THAT WERE PLAYING POLITICS INSTEAD OF KEEPING THE MILITARY’S INTEREST IN THE FOREFRONT BY NOT CONFIRMING A DEFENSE SECRETARY WHO IS VITAL FOR A WITHDRAW AS THIS. THE WITHDRAW HAPPENED ONLY WEEKS AFTER A DS WAS CONFIRMED. BIDEN HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY OF THE DETAILS. BIDEN HAD NO ROLE WHATSOEVER IN SURRENDERING THE ENTIRE COUNTRY OF AFGHANISTAN TO THE EXACT ENEMY WE FOUGHT TO KEEP IT FROM. THE WITHDRAW WAS HORRIBLE ALL THE WAY AROUND. BIDEN WAS GIVEN A SHIT SANDWICH & FORCED TO EAT IT WITH BOTH HANDS TIED BEHIND HIS BACK. THIS IS ALL FACT & I ENCOURAGE U TO DO SOME RESEARCH TO VERIFY ALL OF IT. THE CRAZY PART IS THAT BIDEN PUBLICLY SAID HE WAS TO BLAME FIR THE WHOLE THING BC HE HAPPENS TO BE AN HONORABLE PERSON & KNOWS THE BUCK STOPPED WITH HIM. HE DIDNT MENTION TRUMP AT ALL. IMAGINE TRUMP NOT BLAMING SOMEONE ELSE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS. IVE ALWAYS LIKED SHAWN, BUT I CANT HELP BUT THINK THAT THERES A REASON TRUMPS NAME WASNT MENTIONED AT ALL WHEN THE COMMANDER WAS TALKING ABT HOW THE TALIBAN DIDNT HAVE TO GIVE UP, MEET CONDITIONS, OR DO ANYTHING AT ALL TO BE GIVEN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY OF AFGHANISTAN ON A SILVER PLATTER. ALTHO JB IS HONORABLE ENOUGH TO SHOULDER THE BLAME FOR HIS PREDECESSORS TOTAL LACK OF NEGOTIATING ABILITY, I THINK ITS VERY IMPORTANT TO PUT THE BLAME EXACTLY WHERE IT BELONGS. TRUMP SURRENDERED DECADES OF AMERICAN BLOOD, TREASURE, MILITARY STRATEGY & AMERICAN DIGNITY TO THE EXACT PPL WE FOUGHT SO LONG TO KEEP IT FROM. BLAME BIDEN FOR THE WITHDRAW ITSELF, THO NOT COMPLETELY TRUE ITS NOT COMPLETELY WRONG EITHER. BUT THE ONLY REASON WE WERE IN THAT POSITION IN THE FIRST PLACE IS BC OF TRUMPS INCOMPETENCE & LACK OF LOYALTY TO THE SOLDIERS THAT FOUGHT SO HARD FOR HIM TO SIMPLY GIVE IT ALL AWAY TO THE ENEMY. I HOPE U UNDERSTAND WHY ITS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THESE DETAILS THAT I FEEL WERE INTENTIONALLY LEFT OUT IF THIS INTERVIEW. ITS HARD TO NOT DRAW THE CONCLUSION THAT SHAWN IS WORKING ON AN AGENDA RATHER THAN SIMPLY REPORTING WITHOUT BIASES. Hope u have a wonderful rest of your week. I felt he was a principled man so when his son said this it resonated with me. My own father had died in Feb '01, a WWII vet and principled loving devoted man who served his God, his family, his country and community for his entire adult life and I miss him to this very day. He was about to deploy and had spent 2 years training his team. I really didn’t understand the implications of this move by our government until watching this interview. It makes me sick to hear about this total disregard for the people of Afghanistan, for all those who died in this war. For our government to turn around and give support to the very enemy we were at war with? Reversing all the progress we made in the last 20 years. This is infuriating.

People don't get it, Afghanistan is called the graveyard of Empires.. Not the Russians, Not the U.S, Not the Mongols, not Alexander the great. There are some... but because special forces were rotated in and out of various conflict zones, when you hear interviews with some of those men, their service in Afghanistan will be only a part of the entire service record. There are some interviews with soldiers who were at the Kabul airport on that shameful day, August 15, 2021. Another famous one, of course-' from an earlier time-- is the story of Marcus Luttrell, who after being severely wounded was aided by villagers until he could be rescued.

He got 😭 me at "I love Freedom" As a American, we take Freedom for granted. Heartbreaking💔 knowing & hearing the real truth of what happened to his people & his country!😢

You only take what you perceive is freedom because in reality we aren't as free as we assumed to be.....!! Our government has been in control for the past 6oyrs and they only allow us the illusion of freedom....!! Think about all the thing's you truly can't do and then ask yourself if Americans are truly free....!! Sure we have it better than a lot of other countries, on the other hand there's a lot that have it better than we do....!!

Just an honor to hear this man speak. I remember when his father was assassinated. I was so sad to have heard that. He was a brilliant and courageous man. He stood tall. Thank you for making this happen and I thought you did an amazing job and was happy you let him speak.. Great job.. I appreciated your no bull approach..

I remember when His Father was assassinated, As an American I had a great respect for this man, though I did not know too much about him, but I could clearly tell he was an important man with so much "charisma", that you could just see in his eyes that he was a very special man indeed! I was really saddened when I learned he was assassinated.. He was a true leader for freedom! Edit: I signed the Petition and Donated as well, on principle alone.. May GOD be with his son..

22 years of my life spent in that part of the world, and I want to puke when I hear this and how our government abandoned our Afghanistan allies. Now it's coming out that we are supporting the turds we were fighting against! My heart hurts....why??

As a combat veteran of OEF and medically retired due to sustained injuries in combat I feel so bad for the Afghanistan civilians, Americas military, and all other parties involved. I believe myself and every veteran were ashamed of how the Biden administration pulled out of Afghanistan. It was absolutely terrible. Speaking for myself, I felt shit on for my service and sacrifice as well as those I saw pay the ultimate price. What little patriotism I had left vanished with those actions. Thank you for agreeing to this interview Commander Ahmad Massoud and sharing your knowledge and humility. At the end of the day all any of us want is truth and freedom. I send my condolences and a sincere apology. I also want to thank you Sean for all you do. I love your podcast and support you.

Just signed the petition, As a translator for United States Armed Forces for over 10 years, I find him very knowledgeable and honest but he is still surrounded by the people like Bismullah Khan, the former secretary of Defence, Amirullah Saleh, the former vice president, Qanoni The former speaker of the house who all had hand in huge corruption which unfortunately let United States government sacrifice the entire population of Afghanistan over these war lords and then agreed with the Taliban so desperately. Masoud has to separate himself from these corrupt politicians if he really believes he can make a difference and convince the people in the United States with his movement. Thanks Shawn!!

I can't say it enough times, Mr. Ryan, you are the best interviewer out there. You always ask appropriate, thoughtful, intelligent, probing and respectful questions of your guests. Thank you for so humbly and eloquently expressing the sincere regrets and apologies of the American people for the egregious and humiliating betrayal of Commander Massoud and the people of Afghanistan by the US government. One of the darkest and most shameful and treacherous actions of a corrupt US government. I signed the petition and will pray for this brave leader and his nation to be truly free of the Taliban and all terrorists and outside evil influences. Thank you Mr. Ryan for uncovering and sharing the Truth and shining light on the dark, duplicitous, and immoral actions concealed within our own government. This was such a sobering and heart wrenching interview, and truly world changing, but thank you for all you, your team, Commander Massoud and his people risked to make this information known publicly. God bless you all! 🙏❤️
