Cmdr. Nikitin, has every right to be proud and feeling empowered. She is obviously a very capable and effective leader. That is clearly marked by her junior officers and enlisted crew's superb conduct in the engagement. Nothing demonstrates a commander's ability and stewardship than a well oiled crew in action. No DEI here.

I had the honor of meeting Medal of Honor recipient Tom Hudner on multiple occasions. I also had the opportunity to see the USS Hudner in the Kennebec River in Bath Maine while it was being constructed at Bath Iron Works. Our nation should be very proud of the officers and sailors of the Hudner.

My son in law is still currently on the USS Hudner and was during that deployment. It was a long and stressful 8 1/2 month tour for my daughter and all the other families. What she didn’t mention is all the great men\women that served under her.

@@briancooper2112oh God. First thing she said, two Junior officers Fresh off commission were in charge of running combat Ops during the first Engagement and praised them for their job well done remarking she or the senior felt no need to swap them out. And her next statement about how her crew was mostly first or second time on deployment, implying they handled themselves quite well. And talked about herself for a bit…..god forbid ppl do that sometimes

@joeoconnell732 6 months deployment easier. My dad was usaf for 10 years. When we lived on Okinawa and a typhoon hit the island dad and every plane at Kadena went to Guam for weeks. My mom, me and my brother were on our own for weeks until dad came home. Don't tell me about commitment. For 5 years my family had to face fear that our base Kadena and K.i.sawyer were on the top 5 list of bases to be destroyed. Our so called secretary of Defense broke federal law by not telling anyone where he was. Hillary broke the law with her own tower for herself. Our federal government knew POW's were in Vietnam left behind in 1973. When our government refused to pay millions to Vietnam all were murdered. Democrats always cut Defense spending. I know of 1 president' who had a chance to kill bin Laden and save 3000 American lives didn't do it. A liberal democratic whose wife got 4 Americans at Benghazi. Read 13 hours. You well never trust out government again

I miss the days when the navy and the marines were lead by men. There were standards to get in and combat vessels had only men on them. I can't imagine relying on a tiny woman to carry an injured shipmate up a ladder or even handle the basics of firefighting for an extended period of time. I've heard what marines are saying about the lack of standards in their service and it is terrifying. Our desire to make women feel included is not healthy for our fighting forces. Just because you say a woman can do anything a man can do, doesn't make it so. There is a place in the service for women, but that place is not serving on the front lines where men have to rely on them to do men's work.
