The band and choir are not sprawling but are tight and angular. Yet this is the most dramatic version I've heard on KZbin. The perc reminds me of a galloping horse, and the ww scales down the massive sound to intimacy. Many liken this piece to an anthem for humanity, but this version is a celebration of the individual efforts that make humanity great. Every singer in the choir gets a mike! That's awesome. I had always wondered what this piece would be like in a scaled down orchestra, and this interpretation is beyond what I had imagined.

I have 2 nieces who are active duty Majors in the US Army. One served in Iraq and the other in Afghanistan. This song honors their service. 🇺🇸

Congratulations to the female conductor. She led the choir and band very well. Will we be able to see her again in other future United States Navy Band concerts? Personally, I thought it was a great idea for International Women's Day to have a woman conduct this piece of music. The piece of music was very good and reminded us once again of the many volunteers and soldiers who have fought or are still fighting for our security and freedom. Is the composer also in the United States Navy Band?
