@@tka4nik Sure just as simple as always having 100% accuracy. Considering the 'common sense' in PS2 is that Magriders are hard to hit, demanding people to hit 100% of the shots against Harassers that are harder to hit is just a bit funny to me. Harassers in general needs a decently sized nerf, right now they are basically as tanky or better than MBTs(Prowler/Magrider) and just straight up tankier than Lightnings. I wont bother spamming the math behind it but if you dont believe me just look up the damages and damage resists... but yeah its basically tanks take +50% damage from tank shells while Harassers only take +20% damage from tank shells = Lightning AP needs 5 hits to kill a Comp armor + Fire suppression Harasser and it takes 5 hits to kill a Prowler/Magrider on the front/side armor or 4 rear hits = its faster to kill a MBT from behind than killing a Harasser. Also if anyone wants to know how to kill Vulcan Harassers with a Lightning, use the Viper turret instead since you can kill Harassers with just a single reload if most of the first 6 shots hits and Vulcans likes to get close which gives you a decent go of just full auto dumping the shots into them, either they run or you kill them ~4 seconds later.

One point id like to make, is as a gunner, especially when vehicle hunting: dont fire at everything that moves just because you can. You will often give yourself away, and ruin any flanking opportunity. Only fire when you know you can land your shots, or when the enemy already knows you are there.

People really get in the harasser. Use the horn and you'll see. If I'm playing solo I use the walker gun - the harasser becomes a mobile AA platform. Sometimes I survive 15 minutes in it and "clear the skies".

That, and if you're careful, solo harassing is pretty viable. Ya just need to be quick on the F1/F2 seat swap, or rebind those keys if ya have spare mouse buttons. A solo kobalt or halberd harasser is great for locking down choke points.

Gate shield diffuser has helped me so much more that fire suppression. Let’s me chase hurt vehicles behind gate shields or bio labs when they think they are safe. I can counter turbo ANTs, GSD means I take no ram damage but they still do It’s easier to win harasser 1v1’s if I can ram into them If I flip upside down, GSD prevents the harasser from taking damage for 15 seconds, giving me enough time to unflip it And most importantly is after activating GSD, I can wedge the harasser right under a magrider and absolutely bully them because they cant hit me while my gunner destroys them

There is one very important thing to know in the Scrapper vs Racer discussion. Racer is only 6 km/h faster than Scrapper. It is almost non-existent. Try it out, race 2 Harassers one with Racer one with Scrapper. The advantage Racer is supposed to give you is irellevant compared to Scrapper.

My anti harasser tactic as a Heavy is to use AV grenades. Throw your grenade before shooting your launcher (decimator). Since grenades take a few seconds before exploding, the harasser driver wont react until it gets damaged and this will give you time to hit with your launcher almost at the same time as your grenade explodes. This combo deals about 68% harasser damage and 1 extra shot from an ally or yourself will end it.
@StrixyN4 жыл бұрын
That was really helpful, thank you! Harasser is my favourite kind of fun these days. It doesn't matter much which seat, even 3. The problem is that I play solo 90% of the time so I don't really know what the expectations of other drivers / gunners might be. When to jump out and repair and when to get back in was excellent advice. I've often struggled picking the priority target from either seat. The debate around when to reload VS when to empty the mag VS when to repair I will likely always struggle with because "target focused" is a real thing. Your advice to keep shooting was great. That tip about pulling a flash right after was GOLD! Newbie tip: A bad gunner is still more fun than no gunner at all, so "Get in and man the gun!" We have some fun with a 3 player flak buggy. The NG (usually me) sits in seat 3 and reps (I'm the only one with Jockey). The driver and gunner both play heavy with lock on launchers. When they jump out to fire at the Mosquito, I jump on the gun. "Take that, blood sucker". Good times.

Some tips from me as well to any other Harasser Driver/Gunner. The Halbred might be more suited for AV but with an accurate gunner it will 1 shot infantry at any time be it body or head shot... Not sure for MAXes though, need to check that. Gunners and Drivers, know when to press F3 to take out your repair tool to fix your car. This usually applies to when you're running away like over hills and such. Generally it's the gunners job to help here since running away means unstable shooting though drivers can also do this if they know they've got an experienced gunner since they're usually more accurate. One such example was the last clip Cyrious showed, you can see the someone shifting to the open seat for repairs when in a safer area. Drivers always go in third person, better situational awareness and seeing any oncoming bumps, hills, trees and etc. Gunners can go third person to help scope out where the targets are if you've got none but switch back to first when shooting, better shots usually.
@StrixyN4 жыл бұрын
I like to have my repair tool out before jumping on the gun so it's ready when I hit the back seat and I don't lose any time switching. When I drive I usually keep my side arm out, but it depends on what's up top and who's gunning. Will I need to jump out and engage a driver that bailed? The Archer isn't so good in those situations and I don't want to try and repair them to death... again. Oops. That guy is probably still laughing about that.

I don't have the most experience on the Harasser but I'll try to give my VS Specific thoughts. Aphelion VEX-4: The closest thing VS has to a Vulcan, so I'll try to compare and Contrast. CONS: Half the fire rate and Magazine size. It also blooms harder, so getting hits is far more important. PROS: Higher damage per shot, Overall tighter firing cone (I think) Every six shots you can release the trigger to send out an Arc 800 damage shot which sounds better then it is. Overall the Aphelion is a harder to use and pull off Vulcan. You want to get in close and hammer something hard and Skedaddle before his mates notice. The Charged arc shot is only really useful and Mid-Range, if you're in close combat just hold it down till it runs dry. A short-Range Anti-Vehicle weapon that does okay against other targets and at Mid-range Proton II PPA: Anti-Infantry Very Eh, We don't pull it terribly much. It takes 4 shots to kill a target, but at anything other than close range the bloom will kick and throw your shots wide well before that fourth shot. It can be useful for suppressing an area/Door/Lane. Much like it's Handheld cousin (the Lasher) But honestly just pull the Kobalt or Basilisk, You'll get far more consistent results at different ranges and the basilisk is far more versatile Saron HRB: Mid-Long range Anti-Vehicle weapon. Really solid, I quite like it. The first shot is pinpoint accurate but subsequent shots can get very inaccurate. Unlike the PPA however, you're supposed to be shooting at Vehicle sized targets so it's less of an issue. If you maintain a steady fire rate the bloom isn't an issue and this can be a really powerful long range AV weapon it's actually not terrible against infantry/MAXs if you can hit targets too. Just stay in control of the bloom and you'll be fine. This is a must for a dedicated AV Magrider as well.

As a harraser driver/gunner who primarily uses the aphelion you can kill a sunderer in one magazine without magazine increase with the burst. You also don't need to wait to start firing, just treat it like burst firing let go then immediately start shooting again. Your bloom resets immediately, meaning you can use it at longer ranges than the vulcan and mojlnir.

And this is more for NC's case, but still for everyone, if you are driving, please try to drive in flat ground so the gunner can aim better. great vid, I definitely suffer from the "gotta go fast" instinct I picked up from playing lights in mwo, so I've instinctively known I need to slow my roll to allow my gunner to get more hits, but your vid expressed it so overtly that I feel I must actually make an effort moving forward. I ran a late night harasser squad for a while last spring and it occurred to me that you may benefit from a medic driver as the gunner or rumble seat repairman could take damage back there and triage might be benefiicial. I have never squeezed the trigger on that idea because I rarely have the 3rd seat occupied so i prefered the ability to hop out and repair. but I always assumed that the driver being able to keep people repaired or even hop out and rez a downed engi might be beneficial. dunno, 3rd seat happens so rarely that I never really go past the concept phase. similarly I like the idea of at least one harasser pilot having the logistics expert implant to enable members of the crew that may have been shot out of the back of the harasser to respawn. hell, we used to tend to have at least 2 of them in the little pack we had. issue is lately I have found that it seems they treated the implant the same way as they did the valks in that you can no longer respawn behind enemy lines with them. if you aren't in a friendly hex it seems to not work and tbh, if you are in a friendly hex, just stopping and dropping a spawn beacon or swinging by a nearby spawn tube would not take that much time. so back to sweeper hud and ammo printer. but the question I have is, how often does sweeper hud not pick up the mines for you? I get it quite often where I am moving along at a steady clip and the mines just don't render until you are already on top of them (with max hud). is it possible that max speed of a harasser might be impairing the ability to avoid them? anyways, great vid.

The MCG Heavy Weapon of the TR is a minigun, the TR MAX guns are also miniguns. I am unsure about the actual size of the Vulcans calibre but considering it is AV it wouldn't be a Minigun, "just" a Gatling Gun. This is similar to how LMGs are LightMachineGuns, which seems odd as they are usually the biggest infantry carried guns and also the heavist. But they are called LMGs as they originate from bigger calibre machine guns used on aircrafts, helicopters or heavier turrets on ground vehicles. Taking these directly to infantry isn't working as these big boys would be way to heavy to carry or even wield by foot, thus they have converted the system into a smaller calibre platform to make them lighter and usuable for infantry :D

I am and have been primarily a harasser gunner for a good while now. It’s my preferred gameplay for sure. While I agree you can pick up a rando or jump in a random harasser and have a lot of fun, but there is nothing like having a full time driver that you have good coms with. After a while you just become ‘one’ with each other. My driver is very aggressive and likes to get in the middle of things, submits to his bloodlust for road kills which just aren’t what they once were, they really need to fix that... Most tanks can’t turn fast enough to counter us in CQC situations. They are most deadly at range and it is almost always running away in a straight line that will get you dead when fighting tanks. I pretty much use the halberd 100%. Sniping infantry with just feels so dang good. I have killed a lot of everything with it. So many ESF’s fall prey and will get inside my elevation angle, and boom... They don’t realize how deadly a halberd harasser is to them until it is too late. I won’t knock anyone else’s play style, but to me, the Vulcan just feels too easy and isn’t as satisfying and all the other guns just don’t cut it for me. A bulldog on a battle bus is pretty fun though.

Here I'll make it easy for you; Don't stop moving, stop moving to shoot (prowler in a nutshell), don't brawl with vanguards, stick to long range. Brawl with magriders, otherwise engage only at extreme range as a good maggie will dodge everything at mid range. Flank, but not solo. You are best AA in game. AP turret only, Ranger for solo, halberd for most other load-outs. If you're close enough to use vulcan, you won't live long in larger fights. Almost always Racer chassis (don't let the fastest tank in the game nonsense fool you though, any good opponent won't care about a couple more km/hr) Stealth + fire suppression for solo/flanking, prowler does best with stealth. Also, stealth is useless after exposing yourself. Anyone with ears/eyes can hear your gun/engine or see your rounds. Always ammo printer, and a choice between Sweeper/Counter intel. Stay mobile, peak everything, use third person camera as much as possible for awareness, rock-a-bye baby, watch the tree tops etc etc. Some more nuances to consider; Don't worry about the gun needing to reload multiple times, that normal. The recoil from the first shot will make your ttk slower than on paper (again) as you must usually adjust aim even a bit. Sometimes, you will reload, need to fire the 2 phantom rounds, reload again to be able to do any further damage. For a large box, you roll very well. Your bottom is literally xbox heug, don't let people touch it too much if possible. If you cannot resist the bad habit of stopping and deploying/camping for too long, don't forget your spitfire. 3 or more full prowlers that are communicating and have good team synergy will need a zerg or a bastion to stop. And now, the worst but most fun way to play prowler, Ignore all that, Run HEAT, Vulcan, Racer, barrage, "stealth", bright red camo and lumbifier engaged. Yolo into nearest opponent at point blank range and hope for the best. Needs a buddy that also wants to fight like a real TR. Added effect by placing as many pizza boxes as possible in glove compartment, not recommended for longevity? Sweeper hud a must. Ammo printer probably not. Look at me. I am the DPS now.

First things first. There's some good stuff in this video, and it's certainly a better starter guide than nothing, but there's also a whole lot of trash that demonstrates how you don't actually know this subject particularly well, so I'm gonna correct all that as best I can below. 3:50 "When you see Scrapper, think traction" This is wrong as Scrapper has the same traction as the base Harasser, it just has a tighter turning circle and Racer reduces traction. "When you see Surger, think hill climbing" It has been repeatedly demonstrated over the years that Surger provides no benefits in this area, and if one intends to climb hills it's better to stick with Racer. "When you think Racer, think fast" While true on the surface it isn't all that much faster due to turbo having the same top speed with any chassis, which instead makes the real benefit of Racer the reduced traction that allows more advanced manuevers with sufficient practice. 5:00 "You're gonna be up close and personal with Heavy Assaults rockets, Stealth isn't gonna save you here" This is objectively wrong, as not only does Composite barely make a difference in the STK for a lot of things, it also guarantees that anyone paying attention to their map will see you coming, which Stealth entirely negates, and not being seen is the best way to avoid damage. 5:24 "This thing shreds vehicles up close" Up close being a car distance away, and anywhere beyond that it's literally impossible to one-clip an MBT, thus making it pretty much useless against tanks. 5:33 "It does well against Liberators, but not very good against ESF's" No, this is objectively wrong if one actually has any understanding of damage types, because if one did they'd know that Gatling Guns does twice as much damage per hit to an ESF as they do to a Liberator... Mind you this doesn't make it practical to use against either, but the statement demonstrates a huge lack of knowledge on the subject. 5:39 "But sometimes you just need 10 extra bullets in the magazine" It's only 8, and those 8 barely make a difference for what you can functionally one-clip. 8:34 "Next I have the Gatekeeper. It's a nice long range weapon, but it did get nerfed and I prefer the alpha damage of the Halberd now" It hasn't been nerfed after CAI hit, and the GK has higher alpha damage than the Halberd................ 11:19 "Here we found this Lightning loose from the pack, and I already figured out that his sensitivity is a little to low" This is a bullshit post-hoc realization and you aren't remotely seasoned enough with the car to make such a judgement in the moment, instead relying on the tried and true circling that has been a Vulcan staple since the Harasser was added. 14:27 "A couple of Decimators and you're a goner, especially if they get your backside" The Harasser takes exactly the same damage from every direction......................... --- There's other stuff I find objectionable too, but nothing specific enough for me to delve into. A huge oversight as well is not mentioning the Fury as it is currently far superior to the Vulcan for anti-tank duties if your gunner has any semblance of aim. TTK demonstration here kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3msdYyDa9OViMU --- TLDR: A somewhat useful video for absolute newbs, but also a load of bad info that shouldn't ever have been uttered.
@CMDRCyrious4 жыл бұрын
I didn't know the way it was achieved was that Racer had a traction reduction, but I think the point still gets across calling Scrapper the option if you want better traction. While the squirrely-ness of racer can absolutely be managed, it still has less traction then scrapper. I agree, stealth is definitely the best option in most situations, but when you are cruising around an amp station or watersons, or whatever infantry tend to get you spotted pretty fast anyways, plus you are dealing with lots of small arms fire, the little extra durability helps, even though its not much. I have been in the red many times in a base, where I would be dead with stealth. The vulcan certainly didn't get all its guts back after tweaks during CAI but it is still a good weapon. I understand the Fury does have a better TTK, but the punishment for missing one round is much higher on the fury. And while the vulcan excels very close up, it can reach out farther than the fury more reliably. You're not taking into account projectile velocity and what your target is. Libs are larger and slower moving. ESFs are small and agile. Trying to land shots on an ESF with any reliability is much more difficult then on a lib. I find maxing magazine size is more useful in more situations then reload speed, that shorter reload speed doesn't net me a finishing blow as often as a couple more rounds do. Which do you prefer? Alpha damage is damage per shell... Yes the Halberd has far more alpha damage. The GK has higher damage per magazine. Not at a slow loping speed... If I thought the guy could be putting shots on me, I wouldn't be lingering around slowly. Yes, I was incorrect, harasser has no directional resistances.

So it used to be that the Harasser was slippery with every chassis, but it had its handling severely changed because they reused and revamped that particular bit of code for the cars of H1Z1 which left it very sticky for every option, so Racer was retuned to try and mimic the old handling with some success, though it still doesn't approach what the old handling could do. As for Vulcan, while it may seem to have more range to a lesser skilled gunner, in practice the damage drop-off neuters the damage potential at range severly. Now I admit that I'm in the fortunate situation that I have a highly skilled gunner, and it is with that knowledge in hand that I can confidently say that the Fury has more effective range than the Vulcan ever will, while also having the ability to play nicely around terrain because of the arcing trajectory. As for Libs, I take everything into account. I've been doing Harassers since they got released and have more hours in them than most people have in the game (not that time is an indicator of skill). The actual issue is that practically speaking it doesn't matter against either aircraft as their combination of damage resistance, mobility, and the drop-off of the Vulcan makes any damage done anemic to the point of irrelevance. The consensus among the Harasser people on the PS2 discord is that Reload Speed on the Vulcan is best as we expect not to one-clip stuff with the Vulcan in the first place due to how CAI neutered it, but it's also recognized that in practice it doesn't make a huge difference either way. Alpha damage has a few definitions. It's generally meant to indicate the first hit, and while the GK spreads that over 8 separate impacts they arrive as one unified attack, which is why I prefer it as a measure of "damage per reload cycle" instead of "damage per round". In my experience it doesn't matter how fast you move against a target, a good tanker won't have any trouble hitting you at close range unless you find a way to obscure your hitbox with terrain. Granted not every tanker is good, but it's good practice to assume everyone is a threat. --- Again I'm sorry for the slightly harsher than required teardown. Wrote the initial comment while engaged in a somewhat heated debate on the PS2 discord :)

All I've done is play harraser since I started planetside 2, I've got hundreds of hours in the vehicle and I have to say that I disagree with your composite vs stealth in CQB anti infiantry fights or any fight for that matter. 70% of the time im escaping with my harrasser with 100-150 hp (I can hear your argument already, no I don't die often and actually live for a very long time most of the time) it let's you take an extra tank/rocket and still get shot at by infiantry while living to fight another day. As long as you use terrain to your advantage you should be fine, its much harder to escape bit easier to survive. And the extra time in combat can really let you fight an mbt 1v1(2). The trick I've learned is if a tank misses twice the harraser wins, without composite they have to miss 3 times.

@@GroundTrooper No its no problem it was a good breakdown. And when the guide says advanced, you expect to be more geared towards the upper echelon, so its understandable to get more into the nitty gritty. Do understand though, it is still geared more towards the mid 60% I would say. (Which you still said it was a good starter guide) So above the complete noobs, but not all the way up to the top 5% you know. The AA damage of the vulcan is straight up disappointing. I agree its probably not even worth mentioning its capabilities against the air. I assume someone has done the math. In just RAW damage output, ignoring whether you could one clip or two clip something. Which has the higher damage output. I guess after a reload or two, reduced reload speed would start to have a higher damage output pretty quickly? Understood on Alpha. Part of my love for the Halberd is its OHK on many different infantry types of targets. The GKs disappointing AI capabilities makes it more situational then I would like. I also find that with the Halberd you can time it on rough terrain better, whereas to get the maximum effectiveness of the GK, you basically just have to stay exposed and keep firing, even if half the shots are going to be lost to terrain. And then again part of it is just having spent time using it when it was OP, even if its still fine, it feels worse then it used too, so you tend to just set it aside, but that is not a very objective decision. I did see your research that the Fury is the superior AV weaponry, good video by the way. It feels like you need a really top notch gunner to take advantage of it though, whereas the vulcan's forgiveness can give it an edge. But I see your point again, when it says Advanced, hopefully you are beyond a gunner that is missing shots. Anyways, thanks for your expertise, hope everything takes a look at it and clicks through to your channel, your user icon should push that. :)

Air have the same advantages as harassers and then some..... a lot of some. Twice the speed and maneuverability, far more firepower. I mean, try killing an mbt faster than a tank buster/dalton combo, even vulcan point blank range can't kill that fast. Then to top it off, a spot 10 meters above any ground vehicle where the ground vehicle can't shoot, unless AA (with a few other exceptions), which are more deterrent than an actual weapon. Honestly, I think the reason harassers seem op, is simply there aren't as many people who main the other ground vehicles, because air can take them out rather easily. So everyone tends to use and master the harasser, because they have the highest chance of surviving air attacks. In other words, higher chance to get taken out by harassers than other ground vehicles. Possibly also we tend to stay in packs to take down bigger targets, so they seem op, when its simply numbers overwhelming you.
@Komyets4 жыл бұрын
Harassers having good survivability against air? Not so much in my experience. The best chances I have to survive an ESF is to run for cover or towards friendly forces while desperatelly trying to keep the attacking ESF spotted for them to notice im in troubles. If my Harasser has a Kobalt, Basilisk or Walker, then it is possible to hold our ground against them, but its quite challenging. Liberators destroy harassers quite efficiently too, Valkyries are a slightly lesser threat due to softer firepower, but can be still VERY annoying due to contant chip damage. Of course peopple may attribute the high maneuvreability as an edge against air, but a competent pilot usually always comes out on top.
@SticksInStilts4 жыл бұрын
@@Komyets .... So.... You're saying an mbt has a better chance of surviving a lib than a harasser? If that's the case, you don't know how to use the harasser to its full potential. As I said, the harasser has the best odds of surviving air than other ground vehicles, does it mean the harasser will survive? Of course not, but the odds are far better for a harasser than any other vehicle caught out in the open. There's a reason harassers can actually get behind enemy lines and survive. I mean, have you tried shooting a dalton at a moving harasser? Not easy, much less if the harasser is timing your shots, and moving at the last second (while compensating for latency) to dodge them. I'd even say the ranger harasser is the best aa that ground can pull if they know how to use it. There are many instances where I'm getting attacked by multiple libs and esfs in my ranger harasser because my gunner took them or their buddies out.
@Komyets4 жыл бұрын
@@SticksInStilts No, I just think that the difference in their chance of survival are minimal, MBT's can wichstand a little bit more punishment, Harasser can evade but will be taken out fairly easily due to lower hitpoints and especially if the harasser is taken by surprise where the aircraft scores the first shot. All im saying is I disagree with you saying harassers have **significantly** better chances to survive against air. Either that, or every valk and lib I have encoutered is extremely experienced. There isnt a gunship encounter where I havent struggled against, almost all encouters have ended up in me losing my vehicle, at least while alone

I miss the pre-CAI Harasser. It was just so glorious soloing. Yes with a gunner and or pack it was OP, but it was still high risk - high skill - high reward. gotta disagree with the "gunner always get in first to be more efficient", my point: the harasser needs the time to accelerate, even with boosting it takes a little bit of time from outside repairing to running, so, when its almost full hp, the driver gets in and start accelerating, the gunner finishes it off and get in as the harasser is starting to move, ofc there's the thing with the gunner staying outside, but that wont happen if you have good sinergy with your gunner and you both know your playstyle and how to react to certain situations, so, problem solved...

No love for the Walker? It's very good against infantry and it can snipe vehicles and aircraft. The harasser becomes a really good support vehicle in a zerg of vehicles who forgot to get proper AA or AI, while being capable of spotting and softening vehicles - even sundies around a colossus. (it's my most used weapon on harasser and even a lib cannot deal with a walk harasser unless it comes right in your face)
@perianudan-claudiu24954 жыл бұрын
Btw, H vs H - the passenger can drop mines while retreating, so the opposite vehicle runs into them. CQC AV H squads may use smoke screen to keep vehicle columns in smoke (I haven't seen it used yet - rear engi with underbarrel smoke can help). Also, H's weight is low, even a Valk can do ramming damage to it.

I think a LOT MORE people would be interested in just the section (or immediate timestamp to the section) that hints at Harasser WEAKNESSES more than they would a full 20 minutes of what all their strengths are. I think most people are already well aware of their overwhelming strengths in a coordinated Scenario. And the community in general should also be petitioning the Devs to add more selective weaknesses as well (as opposed to just straight up hamfisted nerfs like the Prowler kept getting)
@Komyets4 жыл бұрын
Weakneses are really mostly dependent on the person driving. Common all across every vehicle such as mistakes done traversing complicated terrain or accidentally drifting into a spin that lets you vulnerable. Unless... of course... you're talking about weakeneses that are always present regardless of player skill? Hard to tell with the harasser, the low HP they have can be a good point. I suppose its like an ESF but on the ground, if you hunt it down with enough determination, you can destroy it instead of merely scaring it away for it to return later.

@@tka4nik Well no that's wrong. Infact the MBT driver and their Gunner has to be the higher skilled pairing to statistically win most of those fights; or they have to dictate the engagement which is nearly impossible because the entire POINT of the Harasser is to allow the Harasser driver to dictate most of the terms of every engagement.
