The tempo speeds up about 10 BPM at the beginning and end of the song, but that's the beauty of live music. Robert is wonderful. Unfortunately, this kind of thing is rare in Japanese live music, for fear of ruining it. Felder, who is also the bassist, was not happy and tried to return to the verse in the middle of the bass solo, Sample was playing without caring, Hooper was sweating, and Carlton seemed to be enjoying himself. Each is interesting in there own way.

I saw The Crusaders twice and Larry Carlton had already left. They were still great. I saw Larry in the early 90's with his band at the Newport Jazz Festival in Newport RI Terry Kath of Chicago is my all-time favorite guitarist. After watching and listening to Larry a lot lately, he's definitely in my top 5. I never realized he did many great licks for Steely Dan session work along with Joe Sample. Wish they were still around to have some kind of reunion. But as they say, "That's Life!"

its a great performance, and live is 'the ticket', but the recorded guitar solo is one of the best, imo, ever - phrasing, execution, and good ol' stink - The album is Those Southern Knights - but Crusaders 1, Chain Reaction, Southern Comfort, and Free As the Wind - all Great! Changed my listening direction big time..in 1976
