CN's GP9RMs 7000 series 2009-2016

HD video of the remanufactured GP9s in the 7000 series taken near the end of their lives between 2009 and 2016. The locomotives were built by GM between 1955 & 1959 and remanufactured at Pointe St Charles shops in Montreal between 1985 & 1993. These units did not have the control stands moved and so remained set up for long operation. Ironically however the short hood was designated the front. Other changes included chopping the short hood, removing the dynamic brakes and using the bulge for extra carbody filters and moving the bell.

Oh man, you don't know how many times the control stand orientation messed with my brakeman and I when we were doing beltpack operations. "Okay, which way is forward?" "back, towards you" "So short hood" "No, thats backwards, you want to go forwards, long hood forward" "So back then?" "Sure, okay..."

I love those GP9RMs, my favorite diesel locomotive on the CN roster. I'm gonna miss them when they're gone someday
