95% of Singapore's durians come from Malaysia. Since May, Malaysia can now export whole frozen durians to China. Would that spell the end of cheap and good quality durians for Singaporeans?

I have forgotten all the durian names. I was a durian lover since I was 7 years old. I would buy one durian everyday on my way home after school in Ipoh and it was cheap then, five cents for one durian and that was my lunch with rice. I also love the durians in Batu Pahat, the meat was red with a little bitter taste. If you are a durian lover, you prefer it rather than the sweet taste durians. In Singapore, I used to stop along Adam Road where there were 2 stalls selling super duper durians, it was before the Macritchie Reservoir, these guys were very honest and I would pay without them opening the durians, they guaranteed to make good any durian that was no good without showing proof if the durian was no good. Don't know if they are still there, their durian farms were inside Adam Road. But the best durians I had experienced and loved were from Pagoh, where I would visit the farm and ate them for free, small and fantastic, 3 to 5 of them would make your day!

As Malaysian , common Durian is very cheap, 1 durian about RM2 not bad, good quality about Rm3-5, and for Musang King, B24 and others high quality 1KG it about RM20-30, or RM40(dependent some seller sell high price), Chinese Malaysian, China, Singapore before Durian become famous, Chinese dont like Durian, same Chinese do not like Petai and Jering. after Chinese start to eat and farming, Durian price skyrocket, the same ways Arowana fish, before Chinese make Arowana as pet and believe as bring luck, Malay of Peninsular, Sumatra(Palembang Malay, Lampung Malay, Riau Malay, Jambi Malay even non Malay tribe like Batak, Aceh eat Arowana fish) and Borneo/Kalimantan(Malay of west kalimantan, Sambas Malay, Pontianak Malay and Malay Banjar of South Kalimantan). There is no single Arowana species in China, even Southernmost China in Yunnan, or Taiwan, even North Vietnam do not have Arowana, Malayan Arowana and Kalimantan is among the best Arowana species, Durian and Arowana fish is cheap before Chinese, it all because want to make huge profit while Malay dont it fact.

Many types of Durian in Malaysia but the Musang King stands out - Very tasty - Sometime people mustn't be too greedy in making profit - Singapore long time customer - just across the Causeway - price also OK - Apa lagi mahu/Malaysian local also can enjoy the fruits - price reasonable - taste also alamak - like go heaven and come back down - How to cater to so many when there is so much demand - want to supplty to China...USA - Others - frozen durian to China ONLY - supply not enough for demand - so much paper work/Frozen - whole Malaysia plant durian tree also cannot meet their demand...China produce so many types of fruits/food - many types - so fantastic...USA/Australia/Western countries- all like to try but youtube video shows - majority of this people...their taste Bud a bit different - all mix up...so tasty Musang king - as if there're eating baby poo...

I have tried durians from Mindanao. Its quite similar to the Myanmar durians. The durians in Malaysia vary from bitter sweet to very sweet, which is unique as it cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world, due to the soil quality. Which is why Malaysia will be overtaking Thailand as the biggest exporter of durians this year when the Chinese exports goes full steam ahead.

She was overdoing the China Vs Singapore angle. Kindve an annoying presenter... she seemed to portray that she was above the workers as she sortve sounded a bit bossy. Acting to masculine.

You've enjoyed cheap Durian from Raub Pahang because most of these Durians were planted by illegal farmers...please don't deal with illegal farmers anymore...If you support illegal activities, it means that you also want it to happen in Singapore..
