Poor families in yhe philippines dont get to go to good universities except if they are really intelligent. Most teenage girls end up having bad friends getting pregnant at an early age or if they go abroad to work as domestic helpers, that is the sad reality of living below the poverty line in the philippines. With the mother and father having no work and relying on their dream making their eldest son as breadwinner hoping he becomes a star is being irresponsible

All I can say, I'm appalled by the parents in these show. They are suffocating their children with dreams that are not even theirs. The Filipino one's is the top worst one here. How can a mother be having double standards on her own biological children! What is so special about her son! He's not even a big celebrity and already she's treating him like the king in the house!...she is so infuriating!...I really sympathise her daughter, she is so young and yet she has shown sign of resentment towards her parents, I don't blame her, her parents made her that way.

I really feel for the Korean girls. Their dad thinks the first daughter is not good enough to start her own food truck. He also wants the second daughter to stop pursing her dreams and just focus on the family business. This is rather selfish of the dad. It's not like the family is broke. They can hire more people. Should a dad not be supporting his kids dreams and ambitions?!

I mean the reason why the father thinks that way is because in episode 1, he said that he scored really low for college entrance exams but became rich. And he doesn’t have much qualifications and sometimes these people, don’t realise that there are ways to climb the ladder. Having said that, the mother said that she doesn’t trust other people.

I love this chinese boy. He's really clever, smart but he feels under too much pressure from his obsessed mom. She's destroying her son's motivation indeed. As obsessed as the chinese mother, the philippinos mom is frankly unfair toward her daughter. She considers herself as a great coach while the result of her "expertise" are still wanting. Does she know what karma's about? You are so unfair vis-à-vis your daughter... you can't succeed with your too much beloved son! IT'S IMMEDIATE KARMA! Far ahead all those obsessed and PRETTY ANNOYING moms, the philippinos is really a stubborn one! not sympathetic at all! Her husband who lacks many qualities becomes more sympathetic than her. Those moms are CONVINCED that they DO KNOW HOW THEIR KIDS CAN SUCCEED! It's definitely STUPID! They NEGLECT some aspects of happiness! And their kids after all, respond the right way by making them understand that they're not robots nor mom's puppets!

The Yaps have made one cardinal mistake in bringing up Keane - they have allowed Keane to be addicted to computer games to the extent that he throws temper tantrums when deprived of the console and iPad. Such negative parenting is very common among Singaporean parents. At restaurants, it is common for parents to keep their toddler kids entertained with an iPad rather than engaging them in the real world. The Yaps should engage Keane in more outdoor activities and sports rather than allowing him to become a couch potato.

Gab, one day you'll make it out of there and start a very good life of your own. She may never see this message, but I hope she stay's strong among her parents that treat her like that. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and I know just how hard it is there. To the parents, give your children equivalent attention so they EQUALLY feel special. How would you feel as a mother or father if one of your kids gave the "favorite" parent a new car for your birthday, and for the other parent's birthday they receive a pack of sponges from the dollar store... Put your self in your kid's shoes at times. I know exactly how it feels to be left out like Gab since I've been down that road. Now that I have had my own life away from them for years, that's when they want you most. Funny how life works.

I have to be honest these families seem a bit dysfunctional. The parents don’t seem to understand their children are separate from themselves and are using their children to fulfil their own needs and dreams. I understand the Chinese mother trying to get her son to do well with school but I think she has to appreciate he is quite unique and different to the average child and will find his own pathway. The Filipino mother is the worst neglecting her daughter to chase unrealistic silly dreams. Gab is such a sweet beautiful girl who needs love and attention too - it breaks my heart to see her treated so badly. I do like Wens fathers empathy and compassion.

This whole season is heartbreaking really. These kids are pretty much abused. Some of them may have all the comfort at home, but they are so unhappy because of their parents. I really don't understand how a parent can behave like that towards their own flesh and blood. I really want to strangle the Chinese mother in every episode. Her kid is brilliant and she's killing his spirit by not allowing him the basic freedom of being a kid. The Filipino mom is a monster to her own daughter and she needs to be reported for child neglect. That poor kid deserves so much more. It broke my heart when she said she thinks of her mom when she sweeps the floor. It's so painful to think that there are couples out there who desperately want children and there are those who have them and don't appreciate the gift they have. The Korean parents are plain selfish. They don't care that their daughters are wasting the best years of their lives working for the family business. All they need to do is hire two people to replace them. The mother's claim that she can't work with strangers is ridiculous. I understand her need to control things but she is putting herself first and shows no empathy for her own children. IMO the Singaporean family is the most normal one. They have allowed their kid to be a kid. But the fact that he's addicted to gaming shows that he's been spoiled and he'll likely get away with a lot more in the future if they don't change their parenting style. However their daughter is awesome and that shows they're good parents.

For Singapore, Alex Yap is a better parenting father here. You can see how much he has already lost talking to his wife, where she insisted on thinking whatever moves that she made is correct for the future. But didn't really think is that what they want. Whereas the father here, subconsciously understand why they are reacting to this way. I think most of the parents at this generation knows what is the correctively way to do things, but doesn't know how to handle them correctly. The execution process is what kills off what they have expected of their children. For Korea, I think they just lack of communication between them. Their burger shop has pulled them apart on understanding what both their targets and wishes. They need to understand their goals are not to be casted on their children's vision and goals well. They need to know they have their own will and path they want to go also. For Philippines and China, I think both are really wrong vision alignment and putting their kids on entitlement. Their priorities are totally wrong. Joseph neither wants to intervene also, seems like a four parties family each with their own world to achieve.

I would like to just clarify that my brother and I both asked to do performing arts as it is also like a way for us to not stress to much about our studies. I feel that both my parents kinda balances out my life. My mom is trying to make sure we are able to do want we want to do in the future, thus the want to help us. There are also time in which we all have fun as a family as well. However, I also agree that most of the parents at this generation does not know how to handle their kids correctly as I hear much of this. I just wanted to clarify that my brother and I chose this path and I think we have to go through this to reach our goal:))))

When I was a child my mother spent a lot of money and effort grooming my brother in a lot of things. Art, public speaking, enrolling him in classes, sending him for competitions. He was just 2 years older than me. I got jackshit. When I was 5 and he was 7, she entered him in an art competition at a community center. The lady at the counter saw me and asked her "Are u sure u just want to enter 1 child? There needs to be an adult present." My mom decided to enter me solely because it would cost more to hire a babysitter. So on the day of the competition my mom left me in a corner with an easel and a box of crayons while fussing over my brother's artwork, making sure his drawing was perfect. I got to work, filling in the colours of my drawing by myself without anyone helping me. My name was called out during the prize giving. I got a small trophy. My brother got nothing. The judges took 1 look at his painting and knew it wasn't his own work. It was a moment I never forgot.

If u want better skin complexion, u shld go get some vitamin D from the sun and also use some facial cream. Not staying at home all day, staring at ur phone.

I feel her my mom use to get mad at me for everything when I was a kid in the 90s my mom favor my disabled sister who is one year older than me, I did most of the chores at home as a teenager and as an adult. I finally got out and in up homeless on the street in my late 20s and on section 8 DHA I'm still on it now in my 30s. Favoring one and screwing up the other child doesn't make there life better.😥

Honestly i dont like the way they giving them so much to learn. Where is the childhood the kids suppose to hv?? They are only adding on stress to them...shld i say selfish? Cos parents want them to learn so much..even plan for them since 5yo?? I hv 4 kids myself. I never stress them too much on studies. They only hv tuition twice wkly n nothing else. i will nvr force them to take up courses they do not like. I want them to hv a happy childhood...nt tons n tons of extra curriculum other than studies. I do nt expect them to strive for 80 n above...as long as they pass their exams is gd enuf.

Imo, season 4 is mostly about child abuse. (indirectly).None of them are talented(except the Indian family) and look good enough to be a star (NONE)...they are just some bright kids that had to fulfill their family's wishes due to their lack of financial capabilities or desired for their kids to be somebody. A sad world indeed.

A lot of them are actually talented for example the Singaporean girl, it's just that they don't have the resources or proper training (referring to basti)

The Korean Dad needs to support his daughters ambitious goals and dreams. The Philippine Mother needs to divorce her lazy husband, get a job and be a loving Mother to her children. The Chinese parents need to let their son play and be a kid.

Oxymoron, if she divorce her husband and is still poor, how will she be able to work and care for her kids? One of her kids looks like a toddler. She is still buying diapers for that kid. Also, divorce is illegal in Philippines as it's a catholic country and their laws are heavily influence by the catholic church.

I’m sorry about this mother in the Philippines is trying to live her dream through a child who is not competent to accomplish what she wants. Since her husband is not willing to go abroad and it’s not fair to push her expectations on her child. Maybe she should go abroad and work for a living to send money home to her family, there are a lot of Filipino mothers who are living abroad working and sending money home to their children.
