The 90s were the golden age of Singapore TV, and May I say Singapore itself as well? GDP may have grown since then but I truly feel Singaporeans were happiest back in the prosperous and peaceful 90s before AFC hits. Now we have a shiny city with manmade attractions and more skyscrapers. But it just never feel quite the same.

Amen to that. I was born on 1995 to small to remember any 90s but I wholeheartedly agree that life was more simple and peaceful back then now that people always complain about everything and things are so expensive nowadays. 90s ROCK!!!

I remember both these shows so vividly. It made me feel so proud that this was locally-made. Sadly, not many shows these days actually live up to the standards that these 2 did. In the 90s,we used to invite malaysian or singaporean actors who has acted in Malaysia to be in Singapore show in the 90s & early 2000s. Nowadays, not many production seem to invite malaysian actors to be on local drama(well there are a few like Kisah Tok Kadi where Beto Kusairy was the lead in singapore drama. We used to have the late Zaibo, late Harun Salim Bachik as well as few others. We need more malaysian/indonesian actors.

I think in those days, it felt so real because of the caliber of talents who are able carry their roles very well. Most of the dramas also depicts the life of an average singaporean which u dont see much in today’s dramas. If u noticed they dont carry much accent as compared to today. The 90s era was the booming era of TV. We didnt have internet or alternative online platforms like netflix so everyone is just glued in front of the TV and of course life was less stressful back then. These days u work from day to night and with online platforms available at ur fingertips, who watches TV anymore. Im so glad we can relieve those moments on MEwatch.
