Tyler Perry Studio's 330 acres & 12 sound stages are bigger than Disney, Warner Bros, & Paramount's combined. It also has 50,000 sq ft dedicated to standing permanent sets with a working residential neighborhood. Plus, Tyler Perry's studios generated $900 million last year. Puzzling how you could miss this!? CNBC should dedicate a whole episode to TP Studios.

I think the editor really missed the mark by not highlighting Tyler Perry triumphs in the movie industry. That should’ve been a core topic point of discussion as it not only forced Hollywood to recognize a diverse workforce. Honestly, I really hope Atlanta's urban planning works to turn Atlanta into the NYC, Chicago or San Francisco of the south, making the downtowns exciting and walkable with great mass transit, while also preserving the forested areas with houses that are still walkable. Atlanta is in a beautiful place, has a near perfect climate, and walkable areas will make its already great culture be even more alive. NYC should not be the only option for big city life.

There have been attempts to boycott but the producers don't want to lose the millions in revenue from going back to LA. Now the alternative is to go to another state with tax credits also has issues because few states have the infrastructure to support the films and TV shows like Georgia. Georgia doesn't have to be the cheapest overall just the cheapest with major studios in place.

Filming in Georgia has been going on since John Wayne and Burt Reynolds. Parts of the movie Green Berets was filmed in 1967 in Columbus Georgia. Deliverance was filmed in Rabun County in 1972. Tyler Perry was not even born in 1967 and might have been a small child in 1972. Yes Tyler Perry has done a fantastic job with film in Georgia however he is part of the big puzzle that makes up the film industry in Georgia. @@Highstate808 No you know nothing. No major film and television publication has ever gave Tyler Perry credit for Georgia's film/television production success because the state had already implemented a major tax credit that helped everything over the top. Before that, the 1990s is when Black entertainers started flocking to Atlanta in what was called Black Atlanta. Tyler Perry moved to Atlanta because he wanted to be part of the movement and he saw how the city entertainment scene was getting larger. as hip hop and films were being filmed in the city more and more. To give Perry so much credit, would be taking away from those who inspired Perry to move to Atlanta. BET was filming shows like Comic View in Atlanta before Perry. TNT and TBS were in Atlanta before Perry as well. I like Tyler Perry but other black people chose Atlanta way before him.

Though then-Governor Jimmy Carter established the Georgia Film Office in the early 1970’s, David O. Selznick really started all this in 1939, when he decided to host the world premiere of his epic “Gone With The Wind” not in Hollywood, but here in Atlanta at the Loew’s Grand theater; the entire cast, including Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, and Olivia de Havilland, were there. Another premiere would follow at that same Loew’s Grand in 1961 to commemorate the Civil War Centennial (the theater was destroyed by fire in the late ‘70s and torn down for the Georgia-Pacific Tower). BUT…aren’t we forgetting Orlando, Florida? All during the ‘90s, tons of film and TV productions were done there as Disney and Universal had studio lots right on their theme parks; until Atlanta, they _were_ the Hollywood of the South.
