Temu is owned by PDD Holdings, a company founded in China that has been credibly accused by members of Congress as being linked to the Chinese Communist Party. Congressional investigators also believe Temu is illegally selling products made by forced labor in Xinjiang, where the Chinese Communist Party is committing genocide against the Uyghur people. Uyghur peoples who are imprisoned and enslaved in concentration camps are being forced to create much of Temu’s goods.

The fact that China can produce an actually functioning smart watch for less than 10$ is absolutely insane. That's the price of a handheld toy, not something with a microprocessor inside it. It could be the worst smartwatch ever. But for 10$? It's a tech marvel.

If an American company did this, they would be on tv saying: “we optimized our operations to maximize shareholder value and believe that small government and fewer regulatory hurdles are the key enablers for value creation. Tariffs create an unnecessary hurdle that presents friction for the consumer and we strategically have bypass this and return value to our clients in the form of savings.”😂

$26 to produce each unit but the cost of Research and Development is where the price tag is. Engineers work for years tinkering with hardware to make smaller, thinner, faster chips. They make up this huge cost with the Apple price tag. China reverse-engineers the stuff and produces knockoffs. They don’t have to spend money on R&D.

When I first started my wholesale business in the US, my import used to be less than $800 per shipment. But after doing my math, I would have a unit cost of at least double than if I had imported a larger shipment. Which only makes sense because the larger your shipment, your unit cost goes down. This use to be a competitive advantage that US based sellers have against foreign sellers on sites like Amazon and eBay. Now, I'm seeing warehousing/fulfillment companies offering storage space for bulk imports from manufacturers from China so that Chinese sellers/manufacturers can now ship directly to American buyers and compete directly with American sellers.

There's a lot things that can harm for our health from dangerous material yet they can get away with it because it's not consumable. And yes you can find $10 watches, that should be only strap band price. If you have to buy something make sure to know what campany from, what material they used, and there's product number. Some company here start to realize some smart consumer and they tried to used safe material and added QR code for authenticity. Please use this type of product. Not entirely correct. No average “uneducated” shopper… Smart shoppers buy on need, quality, and durability. For example, the uneducated shopper buys a pair of $40 shoes based on price. Less than 4 months later, defective workmanship or materials render the shoes unwearable. They were cheap so I’ll just get another pair and spends another $40. Now, cash outlay is $80 plus additional shipping and handling, let’s say $10 per order making total outlay $100 for the two pairs. Then, they might repeat the process one more time for another $40+10=$50. Total outlay is now up to $150 for the shoes over the first year. The educated shopper might bypass the $40 shoes and spend $100 for a better quality shoe. Outlay $110, assuming the same $10 S&H. These shoes last 2 years without needing replacement. Averaged out, these shoes actually on cost the buyer $55 for the single first year as opposed to the uneducated expenditure of $150 over the same period. So, the uneducated, price-based shopper is spending $95 more for the poorer quality shoes than the educated shopper. This will almost climb to $190 more if buying habit continues for an equal two-year period. Oh, inside secret, the profit, to a large degree, is hidden in the S&H, not the product itself.
@alexidornigie4599
@alexidornigie4599 Жыл бұрын
Jim, there are more average shoppers willing to grab a deal than those who understands quality. Temu (in this case) is leveraging on the strength of average shoppers and not those looking for extra quality. As a matter of fact, you will find 10 average shoppers before you will come across 1 shopper who understands quality. It's human nature embedded in business science. I do e-commerce, so, I know exactly what I'm talking about. People are everywhere looking for deals. And, trust me, they will grab it (first) before seeing the wrong. I totally understand your point. Which simply means - "penny wise pound foolish". However, you can't chase average shoppers away from making that mistake. As a business, your concern is to sell; not to correct shoppers reasoning. If they want original / quality, they know where to go. @@Picla_Peremohy

I've been doing the same with Ebay for years. The problem for some is that u have to wait from 3 weeks to up 3 months, but is cheap, Chinese don't pay for shipping the same price as Americans (which i guess is jot good because Americans taxes pay for that) but i used to buy cheap stuff from Ebay for years at a fraction of the price...

Temu is faster, it takes about a week. They ship their items to a warehouse beforehand and then the warehouse ships it out to you.

cheaper actually. and the heart rate , blood oxygen and step counts readings are usefully accurate . The ~$20 ones have good battery life. $25 ones may have "Alexa" voice command function through the phone's bluetooth.

So when you buy the exact same cheap things for slightly more money on Amazon I wonder if they come from the same place? Or shouldn’t I ask that?

you have good question. TEMU is a chinese government company who pays for the losses they make, they do not make profit and Temu is not designed to make profit. its a project to undermine and destibilize western, european, african economy. when people asked questions at the beginning, the chinese company moved even to USA to appeal to people. similar projects by the chinese gov companies are running in south africa as well, with the goal to undermine local, regional african businesses and with success which means many shopowners went bancrupted. its instabilizing local companies. and china attacks now western world, europe and usa as well with same goal, to instabilize economy. its not bargain, you pay with destabilizing and bancruptcy of own economy. temu was located in china but when too many people saw through, they located cooperation in usa as well. its the chinese project to attack western countries and exploiting africa in the end

@beckysam3913 this is the same business strategy Amazon had. Their retail side wasn't profitable for years, and they completely undermined the traditional retail space and local smaller businesses.

Oh wow I’ve brought several hundreds of dollars from Temu some has been cheaply made but the clothing has been a winner for me don’t purchase electronic nor jewelry period because they want work period. On thing I can say is that if something is damaged and unable to wear they will give you your money back or they’ll give you quick store money credit that equal what you paid to purchase something else meaning you want have to wait 3-5 day money back guarantee return. I like Temu just have to chose items carefully one time I brought a video ring camera it was a dud brought a different it also was a dud bedding not good size right bathroom items not good periods so buyer beware before purchasing those things

Sounds like politicians and their investors are sad because their payday is getting impacted. The internet has allowed people to do commerce more directly without the "middle-man" essntially all the extra they charged us for years for junk, people got rich off that. This threatens that dynamic.

Its not the only thing, they also come out with phones that are equal to or better that Samsung Galaxy Phones for $200-$300 cheaper. Plus if 1 million people buy one product thats $10 they've made at least $11million on one product...simple math.
@mikehunt5637

Actually, 10x1 is 10, so the most they could make is $10 million, not $11 million, and there is also the cost to make the product and ship the product to the consumer. Did you perhaps mean that they make could easily make $1 million instead of $11 million?

The point in this video is that Temu didn’t grease anyone in US and doesn’t pay any custom and taxes. The companies/businesses that’s here in US are complaining to their contacts in government to work their asses since they paid them. Hence, they are trying now with this narrative. If Temu pay up THIS right here wouldn’t have happened. Also with all the inflation going on, consumers will of course, find a way to stretch their every cents and dollars.
