@@hmmhmm7283 The main subject of the fight is that the chefs/owners are never giving permission to be published in the Michelin guide, and never notified of any changes in their rating (and not given reasons for it). This particular chef (Marc Veyrat) lost his star, won't get an explanation from Michelin, and would rather not be published anymore as a result of this lack of transparency. But Michelin hasn't removed him from the guide the next year. Too much stress comes with it (everyday knowing that today might be the day an inspector is here to see if you're still worthy) and too much publicity for your restaurant, too much pressure from your new clients.

Honestly I've eaten at many Michelin stars over the years (as you'll see by my channel) and I can definitely say some of the 'world number 1' restaurants have been a total sham. Often food bloggers have a vested interests in certain restaurants and I've had at least three 2 or 3 Michelins that have been SO different compared to other 2 or 3 Michelins in another country... this includes everything from quality of food to service, ambiance and price. I can immediately understand the vibe of the place, how happy staff are to work there, how they react to my filming there... the really top restaurants will welcome you with open arms, the nervous ones will not.

The 1st star is vague. "Good in its own catergory". The last 4 words can mean many things. The 1st star should not be taken really seriously On the other hand, the 2nd and 3rd star is more specific. "Worth a detour" and "Worth a special journey" or sth similar respectively Dont forget that the simplest 3* dish is potato, butter, milk and salt by the well-known chef Joel Robuchon.

In my opinion one star in France is superior to the same rating abroad. I think it's the national touristic quality standard. So I am asking for an explanation why they got only one star and they're able to tell me exactly why. Others are loving the genuine quality of the Spanish tourism even if not rated. But they may tell you their comparison terms precisely. Like authenticity, value of investments and uniqueness. I also might tell you that there is no doubt a difference between a French stars restaurant in Germany , Saarland, and the same rating restaurants in France. Simply because that they are French restaurants in Germany.

Went to the only 2 star michelin restaurant in Beijing after the michelin guide came out. Name was Shanghai something. Extremely disappointing. More affordable than expected but much more expensive and what the servers recommended wasn't better or worse than what I had at other local Beijing restaurants. Not to mention the plating was awful. One dish was just peas and mushrooms stir fried together and it tasted no better than frozen peas from a bag. Another soup was watered to hell and had half of a sliced carrot and half a slice of corn and a bite sized slice of beef. The main dishes were braised pork and beef. It was good but not so good that their labeled price was worth it. When they brought the soup I had intended to share it with a friend and asked for a bowl. They brought the bowl but no spoon and only gave us the spoon after about 5minutes. Mediocre service, passable dishes, awful plating. Hardly the michelin experience you'd expect. Truthfully after that experience I realize the Michelin is just a label. Michelin inspectors are human beings with bias and different palettes from one another. They really are not much better than yelp reviews.

One star restaurants can be hit or miss, two stars are far more consistent in terms of good food. The difference between 2 and 3 stars is usually the environmental factors and less about the food.

Michelin is Outdated in a way that Michelin Star places are usually expensive, at least $75 pp at dinner with a boring standardize menu with interesting and prolly cheaper ingredients. Plenty of places in Chicago serving $30 pp dinners that are more interesting and innovative served in a casual environment.

Before they take a star away, Michelin inspectors should go back a second time to a restaurant. If I was a Michelin inspector, I'd do that even if it meant I didn't tell Michelin that that is what I did. As this video shows, too much is at stake if they don't give a restaurant a second chance. SO WHAT if some wealthy people, eating at a one or two star Michelin restaurant, don't get one of the dishes they order cooked to perfection on a particular night? Human beings are putting the food out and not machines.

I'm just a layman, but here's what I believe - what it it takes to get a Michelin star. Ultimately; like physical attraction, you can't please everyone, and gastronomy is no exception. Taste is subjective, yet collective by like-minds...essentially it comes down to Quality and Consistency. Is the quality of the food, preparation, cooking, the preparedness of the dishes consistent. Does the dish TASTE the same as you remember it 6 months ago? Do the employees, other than the cooks constantly perform the closest thing to perfection? Can they convey the experience the chefs intended for guest during the evening menu? The Michelin Star is an invitation to those who would literally travel across a continent, if not the world to CONSUME and experience a Supreme, overall gastronomic experience! It's the MVP of restaurants!!

Me and my parents if we go out to diner we only go to michelin star restaurants. Just because the food is always perfect you dony have to search for reviews and i have never been dissapointed at a 2 or 3 star michelin restaurant. Reading reviewd is still always a guess
@miabam26
@miabam26 4 жыл бұрын
Yelp and google reviews are not even on the same class as Michelin review. Any random person like you and me can write a yelp/google review based on his/her opinion. However a Michelin review comes from an "review expert" or a professional "critic" who goes out and taste foods then criticize them after as a full time job, and it takes quite sometimes and lots of hardwork for a business to gain just one Michelin star. So to answer your question. Even in this age of technology, Yelp/Google reviews are not relevant to a Michelin review. You might be surprised to know that some restaurants with Michelin stars in the UK has barely 4 Yelp review since Yelp is based off of US and is more known in US only compares to other parts of the world
@mangeshkhapre1261
@mangeshkhapre1261 4 жыл бұрын
Okay I agree. Micheline reviewers are definitely professionals. But my point was people rate the restaurant anyways. So let's say 10 thousand people rate a restaurant, it averages out (in fact some apps/websites use AI to justify the ratings.) And these ratings. At least in Indian range quite widely between 2 to 5 (out of 5) that too in decimal like 3.5, 4.2 etc. Also There are food bloggers who do the job of writing detailed reviews. One can follow the reviewer whose taste buds are matched with themselves. Yelp is not in India. But Zomato is big in India.. and there are many competing apps in India. I am sure every country must have some specific app.
@miabam26
@miabam26 4 жыл бұрын
@@mangeshkhapre1261 your point is that restaurants get averaged out on the reviews based on how many people review them, yes. My point is the people that make those reviews on Yelp/google are "NOT" an expert at rating foods, so what they think is good/bad, might not actually be good/bad to you based on their/your standard, versus a Michelin star is rated on a fixed set of gold standard by a reviewing expert. In other words, I never fully trust a 4 or 5 stars yelp review. For example, some white people who don't have much experience with Indian food goes to an Indian restaurant in the US to have a meal and thought it was delicious so they decided to write a 5 stars Yelp review for it. Then you as an Indian dude who then goes to that restaurant to try it and you think the food is so bad and un-authentic because you actually know Indian food, but decided not to write a Yelp review for it and just never came back. So it turns out the 5 stars review was actually not relevant because whoever wrote it doesn't have much knowledge on what a good Indian food is suppose to taste like. Get my point? Trust me I've been to some restaurants in Las Vegas and California with 4 stars Yelp review and they were just horrible. But, I can ALWAYS trust a restaurant with even just 1 Michelin star, because yes it is that HARD to earn just 1.
