Of course it is lawsuit territory. Like he said, it is considered a form of fraud. From Cornell Law: "To prove prima facie defamation, a plaintiff must show four things: 1) a false statement purporting to be fact; 2) publication or communication of that statement to a third person; 3) fault amounting to at least negligence; and 4) damages, or some harm caused to the reputation of the person or entity who is the subject of the statement." Bill Ackman obviously believes that the actions of his wife cannot be described as plagiarism, so that is point 1. Point 2 is obvious. As for point 3, Ackman believes (and it is beyond obvious that) the whole thing was a hit piece on him, which is beyond negligence. It is also concievable to prove negligence based on that Ackman disputed the plagiarism claims and it was published anyways. And point 4 is also demonstrably true - just observe the former Harvard president as to the harm plagiarism accusations cause.
