I believe the retirement crisis will get even worse. Many struggle to save due to low wages, rising prices, and exorbitant rents. With homeownership becoming unattainable for middle-class Americans, they may not have a home to rely on for retirement either.

I am finding that in North Florida a lot of people just plain do not have the money for insurance anymore and we are seeing an increasing number of people driving vehicles uninsured. That as well as forgoing home owner's insurance if they happen to own a home. When you make like $35K a year, having to come up with over $4K a year in house and car insurance is just not financially feasible if you plan to also eat and keep a roof over your head and the power turned on. I mean, after taxes your bringing home like $2500 a month. Pulling almost $350 a month out of that just for insurance is just not possible given the cots of everything these days. I mean, even an old car will cost you over $.50 a mile to drive when you factor in just it's cost, maintenance, fuel and repairs. I mean, every time some light flashes on the dash it's $1000 or more these days. A set of tires on something like an Infiniti Q60S is over $1,000. A bloody battery is like $230 now. The cost of everything has gone up so fast over the past three years that unless you can sleep in it, eat it, drive it or drink it, it is going to be put on the financial back burner list of things you'll never have the money for.

I read that insurance companies will not write policies for homes in some areas prone to hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. I feel for people in those regions. I repeat...do check your home insurance policy. You might be surprised by limits and/or things not covered at all. I had a water line break outside my home. I knew there was a problem when I saw water "bubbling up" from the shut off valve. Many homes on my street had the same problem. The reason? the builder had used cheap Asian-made copper pipe. Basically, too thin. The line from the shut off into my house was replaced with new plastic pipe. The cost was $6,500. My (as someone said) Cadillac insurance covered the entire cost and I did not see a policy increase. You DO get what you pay for.

This is the glorious corner of the internet where anti-government sentiment suddenly dissolves when it becomes apparent to the 'big government is tyranny' crowd that the invisible hand of the market is pricing insurance to reflect the growing risks related to climate change. So, to kick things off, what type of government intervention or support are you willing to accept in order to shield you all from the economic risks that only grow everytime you crank your V8 Dodge Ram?
