Just Machining - 01
In this episode of "just machining" I show you the first cnc machining operation of an aluminum part I had to do. With some nice iMachining paths, roughing, thread cold forming and milling, fine boring and much more!
The part has some critical tolerances, this is why you will sometimes see the same tool changed in twice. This is to have one pure roughing tool and a separate finishing tool.
⚠️ Please do not mill / drill aluminum dry! This is just for video reasons and will kill your tools and parts.

At 11:30 you can see what i think is the roll tap deforming material into the pocket. Looks like the hole is very close to the pocket so very thin wall thickness. Probably a good idea to drill and tap that hole before milling out the pocket.

Youe mean like doing a second surface path? I mostime do an extra "empty" path to ensure tolerences will be good and surface will be nice :)
@michaelkelly3158
@michaelkelly3158 Жыл бұрын
@@BavariaCNC Like when you run your finishing pass, if you run a 0.025MM FPT it's actually less than this as its thinnest point if the axial engagement is small, like 0.2MM, 0.3MM etc. I only discovered this recently... but I find if I don't calculate for it my surface finish isn't so good. My machine isn't as nice as yours however, just a Haas MM.

Also zum Gewindefräsen in dem 6082er: F = 0,3 (Mittelpunktsbahn, geht auch schneller, je nach Qualität der Oberfläche, die man braucht), Drehzahl = was die Maschine hergibt. M14x0,5 ist Feingewinde und hat kaum Widerstand. 1 Umdrehung schruppen, 1 Schlichten, fertig.

Old time programmer here, I really do not understand why so many waisted tool path cuts with this software.
@JaakkoF
@JaakkoF 2 жыл бұрын
SolidCAM looks like it makes 'unnecessary' toolpaths, when in reality it ensures that the remaining stock for finishing is exactly what is needed and that the cutter always sees the same chip load. Regular programming doesn't do that, which results in less tool life and longer cycle time. You can tweak and tweak the settings, toolpaths and cutters, but eventually for small batches it isn't worth the effort to get couple of seconds here and there.
