Looks great, Gary! Thanks for sharing your method and it was a good point you brought up about avoiding the heat affected zone. Interesting project you're making too... - TZ

That’s a great tip. I am going to see if I can make the PlasmaCam do a simple pierce like that “drilling operation”.

Great idea! I use sheetcam as well, and a hypermax 65 with a machine torch. The top of the pierce looks great and I said to myself..........what about the heat effected zone and dross from the pierce. Well, I have one annular cutter from a job where I had to run 1" holes through some 1/4" wall pipe and have wanted to get the small set of cutters that you have. This is now on my list of tricks to try. By the way, I want to build myself a 2x72 belt grinder and noticed yours. I spent the last two days researching the grinders and Helicopter John (has some great youtube videos on his grinder) sent me the photos and drawings from his build, so now I am planning out how to build my own, but was debating on whether to use aluminum or steel and trying to decide on using my plasma table or my brother's cnc mill for cutting the flat parts. Marking a center point accurately so it can be drilled on the manual mill has been a PITA. Thanks for the tip/video and Happy New Year!

Thanks for the tip I have been struggling and going through drill bits like crazy. did you have to make a path rule in order to have a hole option? I've seen a bunch of your videos and this is the first time I write a comment I hope you could help me out and I appreciate the time you invest sharing tips and thoughts

If you add a felt tip marker or air scribe to your gantry, You don't have to deal withe the flame harden issue. Search KZbin for instructions on setting up tool offsets.

why not cut the hole with plasma my table can cut a 3/4 hole almost no taper

You didn't explain what was wrong with the hole created by plasma cutter. Why this extra step is needed?
@turbocobra5 жыл бұрын
plasma cut holes are not very accurate, not round, and have a taper, so if you want a clean, straight, round hole this is a way to do it
