I used to use this base coat for years but I always used nail polish that the green tint didn't change. I have been wearing more sheer/natural/lighter nail polish lately with different base coats. I used this base coat again & noticed that even though i used 3 layers of nail polish & a shimmer, my nails looked sorta green.

Yeah i don’t understand why they made the tint so so so strong 😖😭

I've used orly bc on friend's nails and they've remarked that it stained their nails too. I still love it though, and I love the Maniology base coat as well.

I’ve heard this about orly base coat, it used to be one of my fav but I haven’t used it in a long time! I don’t remember that it stained me, but I know it did nothing to prevent staining, so idk if it’s the base coat causing staining or just a total lack of prevention, which we see as the base coat staining… you know?

Yes I agree- orly Bonder was good for lasting manicures but didn’t help me with avoiding staining and it’s not designed for smoothing ridges. I’ve been using Essie Smooth-E for a while with success on both areas - smoothing and minimizing staining

I have to be careful with sticky base coats because they often have polyvinyl butyral and my poor nails can’t handle it. Delamination station.
@PolishLabRat9 ай бұрын
I don’t even know what that is haha but yeah, it’s great that u have it pinpointed to one specific ingredient so y can avoid it! 🙌🏼🙌🏼

What does this ingredient do to your nails?
@ThatSoundsBoring8 ай бұрын
@@lookingatdaisies9901 That’s the one that makes it a sticky base, it’s a binding agent. This is purely anecdotal since I am not a chemist, a doctor or a nail tech, but it makes my nails peely and brittle. My uneducated guess is that the bond is too strong for my poor nails.

I use this base coat. It does stain my nails just a tiny bit. Definitely looking for a new base coat

Look into the Essie Here To Stay. I like it!

I wonder why base costs need to be colored anyway? I use Orly.

I’m not sure. My anecdotal experience is that the ones that are tinted blue, are good at preventing staining. The other I showed from Colores de Carol prevents staining nicely, same as the Dimension Nails one that’s blue tinted

I decluttered this base coat because it was tinging everything polish green/blue! It was so annoying. Why must it be SO tinted?!

No clue 🤯🤯🤯

I only use that base for my toes.

That’s a good use case for sure. I didn’t think of that haha

I tried it last summer and my mani chipped within the next day. So its a no for me.

Chipping is not just about the base coat tho, but I assume u r comparing against whatever previous one you had, right? What were u using before?

It's starting to turn nails yellow

Could be, some people told me they experienced staining from this one

Have you ever swatched any CND polishes, if not I would love to see how they perform. That base coat is a no for me, tfs.
@PolishLabRat9 ай бұрын
I have only ever reviewed the CND Shellac, not their regular polishes. I haven’t even tried them!

Very stupid tint choice. Everyone, no matter skin tone, has pinky, peachy, beige nails. Make it a similar color? The teal color they made it would stain me being the worst offender to my porous, easily stained nails. I usually only wear base coat when I know the polish is a strainer. I tried base coat, but it didn't seem to make a difference with regular yellow staining and I don't need it for staying power because my nails grip onto everything.

Some base coats don’t make a diff with the yellow staining, some do, but it takes a while to see a diff specially if they r already yellow as u know, u gotta let them grow… but I have seen a diff with blue tinted base coats to prevent that long term swatcher stain (when compared to others that did nothing for me). Doesn’t prevent it 100% but helps a lotttt
