You'll love Wanaka, it is absolutely beautiful! It was our favourite place in New Zealand and we miss it a lot. If you want something a bit more challenging, we highly recommend Breast Hill Track near Lake Hawea

Spectacular country side New Zealand has much to offer for trekking thats for sure. One day may get there but don't like my chances now.

NZ has said they'll be opening to international travel in early 2022, so hopefully you won't have to wait too long! There is so many trails, it's almost overwhelming.

Thanks for watching Kat! I believe we hiked up the Eastern track and descended the Western track (counter clockwise direction). I distinctly remember preferring descending the Western track because it seemed steeper and slippery compared to the East. Honestly though, you could just hike up and down the Eastern track, it's got the best views
