Hello Amit Sir & Rishab bhai, A Very good and timely discussion by you. Breakeven cost calculation of CNG kit: The additional cost of CNG kit can be recovered if car is run for 53,500 Kms. Example: Wagon R LXi: a) CNG ₹83 per kg ÷ 34km mileage = ₹2.43/Km. b) Petrol ₹103 per litre ÷ 24km mileage = ₹4.30/Km. c) Savings ₹4.30 - ₹2.43 = ₹1.90 say ₹ 2/Km. d) CNG kit cost: LXi ₹6.68 Lakhs - LXi CNG ₹ 7.75 Lakhs on road = ₹1.07 Lakhs. e) CNG Kit Break even cost = ₹1.07 Lakhs ÷ ₹2/Km Savings = 53,500 Km. Buyer may have to decide how many months or years they will take to run 53,500 Kms in their new Wagon R car for breakeven cost and then getting profit from the CNG kit. [Note: Increase in additional cost due to CNG Insurance, CNG kit Maintainance & extra EMI, and Variation in Petrol / CNG cost in future not considered for simplification in calculations.] Like If calculation was helpful in taking decision, if disagree please comment the reasons. CNG car is more prone to Risk. Service frequency increases so is the cost of service . Passengers have to stand out in rain and sun . Frequency filling CNG 3 times higher. Waste of time every time you visit CNG pump . Boot is lost permanently . Low resale value of vehicle . Out of city always have to search for CNG pump so long drive becomes longer and more time taking and tiring.

@mohdshahid1819 Yes, these are genuine practical problems of running on CNG fuel. CNG may be useful for Taxi operators where they will prefer lower running costs. The calculations concerned were only about breakeven cost for opting a CNG kit, normally taxis run 52,000 kms within a year or two, but vehicles used for personal use may usually take many more years to run 52,000 kms for achieving the breakeven cost. The Coverage of CNG pumps distribution are also much better in NCR region & few Northern states compared to Southern states. Thanks for your useful feedback 👍,

I am having XL6 CNG. I switched on it from a diesel car. the reason was the temporary ban imposed on diesel cars in the winter season. But I was not disappointed by the performance of the XL6 CNG car. It has adequate power, being 1.5 liter engine. The best part is the mileage, which is way above the petrol. I have also covered in detail about the car in my channel. It can be of great help for someone looking for the CNG version of the car.

Personal experience with my co-worker is that despite of daily commute to office is 65-70km per day for 5 days in week. Also 200 km in month to native place, all on highway. He is using 2016 celerio petrol , AMT, which is convenient and economically feasible.

Sir, I am using a Brezza CNG LXi. I have completed 9000 km. I am getting a mileage of 23 to 27 km/kg on different road conditions. Secondly, I previously used an Alto K10 LPG for 13 years and covered 1.75 lakh km. I did not encounter any problems with it. However, I had it inspected by a trained mechanic every 5000 km. I expect the CNG engine to complete its full tenure similarly. Thanks a lot for making a good podcast on the most awaited topic.👍👌

To kyu EV lekar tension le koi. I think EV me क्रांति aaegi but uss level par nahi ki wo petrol deasel wala sukun de sake.. Pesa bhi lagao or enjoy bhi nahi kar pao sirf city k liye ev thik hai taki charge khatam hone par ghar aa sake but holiday trips longdrives me risky hai.. Most of the car buyers is buying car first time in there life and comes from middle class and purchase car in loan. Most of then can't afford diesel version of car and can't go to low mileage cars. Comfort/bootspace is secondary, value for money and milenge is primarily for most of car buyers.

सर, बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात है, हमारे यहां कांडला पोर्ट की वजह से एक महत्वपूर्ण शहर गांधीधाम के आसपास cng pump की परमिशन नही मिली है, वैसे यहां से ४०_५० km दूर जाना पड़ता है, cars यहां रिमोट शहर होने के बावजूद बहुत बहुत ही ज्यादा है, ट्रांसपोर्ट और शिपिंग हब है, और इंडस्ट्रीज भी है, ev eng लोग लेते है यहां पर, वैसे यहां सब तरह के फ्यूल की गाड़ियां है पर डीजल की पेट्रोल बराबर है।

Mere pas bhi xl6 cng h abhi li h 3 months back, running starting me 1500km per month h, average acha h sari running city me h maybe run aur badh jaye but baar baar pump par jana ek problem h 200 bhi nahi chalti ek tank me and highway pe petrol bhi acha average deta h n highway par frequently cng milti nahi h petrol par shift hona padta h. Over all saving kam hi hoti h. Run jitna jayada hoga gas ki availability n time kam lage to best option h cng. Aapse chahta hu ki cost difference jo cng car me jayada h usko har aspect se service, maintenance, extra cost cover karne me minimum time kitna lag jayega is par details de including every aspect ki kitna car chalane par cost cover hogi h then profit hoga including insurance n interest of extra. I use Toyota glanza, rate here of gng in Lucknow is 97 rs/kg, and total 650 rs mei Tank gets full, In summers my car run 150 km total with full tank, and in winters it runs 175 km with full tank. My run is 100 km per day average. Factory fitting cng is way better then out market fitting, it feels like im running the car on petrol.

I live in noida and have covered an almost of 15k kilometers in 9 months really good buy ! cng rate is 83 in noida but ya if they could have given automatic transmiision that would be a bummer !

I m having toyota rumion cng s variant. In almost 6 months, I hv covered 20k kms. Daily running almost 80kms and daily highway run. Tank gets filled up in less than 600rs with almost 8kg gas. In one full tank easily covers 230 to 240kms. Mileage 28 to 30 on highways. 😊😊

For example consider Suzuki 1.5 NA engine with petrol only vs cng. Engine head opens around 1.5 lakh kms in cng even u use in petrol intermittently. But in petrol by careful driving u can last upto 3.5 lakh kms without engine overhaul. Very important point. Personal experience. Ertiga cng taxi users spend around 35 k every 1.5 years for head value replacement and engine work though company claims that cng engine parts are more robust than petrol only.

No its not like. This is saying of earlier people who were using cng from long time. Earlier Engines were not much optimised on cng like 2 ECUs. Now All engines are upgraded like direct start on cng etc. so it is not required to run on petrol for initial few kms. But you must drive some kms in petrol after 2-3 cng fills.

Hello Sir, I am from delhi ncr and planning to purchase petrol second hand car and after 1-2 month of purchase would add on the cng kit from authorised dealer and mechanic......my couple of questions are... 1) Ford-Aspire, Ford-Freestyle, Nissan-Micra, Nissa-Sunny, Honda-Jazz, Honda-Amaze, Honda-Brio, Toyota-Liva, Etios, Etios cross.... Among these which will be best compatible for aftermarket cng. (For 7-8 years old second hand car) 2) LOVATO, MOTOZEN, MINDA or any other with advancer, which will be the best kit for the selected car from question 1 (Sedan, hatchback, boot space not an issue for me) I hope you will reply this long query sir....thanks

Mere pas celerio zxi 2014 model he. After market cng kit lagai he. Ab tak 100000 km chal gae he. 35000 cng kit ka kharcha 15000 had gas kit ka kharcha after 40000 km 15000 had gas kit ka kharcha after 85000 km Abhi 100000 km pe fir se problem aane lagi he. Mere ko cng Kar total 70000 ka kharch Kara chuki he. Uprse performance giri. Then realized I have big mistake to fit cng kit.

I have converted my car manually in CNG after long use of 1.7 lakh KMS.I pay high maintenance I think same running cost in petrol so my experience is 50 50 I think I am in loss and during vacation and festivals period long queues for reffling like costly flate but long time to wait for lift to go in it. Please discuss Maintenance point in depth for the company fitted as a compir to petrol maintenance cost for 1 lakh Kms. So it will be clear for all customers.
