I think serving in the military doesn't automatically make you a good person. I remember reading about Richard Ramirez (serial rapist and killer) was shown pictures and told stories at a young age by a relative who served in the army during the Vietnam war. He was told stories about raping women and grew up to do that. So obviously just serving in the military doesn't automatically make you a good person. There's honestly a lot of true stories about military going into a foreign land and being absolutely horrible to the local people.
