Hi! Just for general knowledge/FYI: the man interviewed is the former administrator of the Canal, this is an executive position (meaning, it is assigned by the president). The lady speaking is the current deputy administrator, a career position. Ms. Ilia de Marotta knows the ins-and-outs of the Canal like no other, based on her expertise as a distinguished engineer. Mr. Quijano also has a long standing history with the Canal and oversaw its expansion, but it’s a whole different story to understand how every bolt and screw of that structure works. Just as you, I regret the reporter did not allow them to expand on their ideas and knowledge. Pretty sure the clip could’ve survived with less landscape shots and more dialogue.

The value of the US🇺🇲 dollar is declining due to inflation, but it is increasing in comparison to other currencies and commodities such as gold and real estate. Panama politics claim that they are having a drought from their freshwater resources which the Panama Canal draws from Panama's biggest body of freshwater. So every time a ship passes through the Canal a portion of the fresh water is dumped into the ocean. So Panama has limited the amount of the numbers of ships that can pass at a given time while increasing the rate of passage, which has created a huge bottle neck in the shipping logistics along with cost increase wheather shipment companies chose to use the Panama Canal or not.
