I was raised in a very conservative family, so I never really was a fan of Obama mainly due to parroting my parents' beliefs (who weren't and still aren't fans of him). As I've gotten older, my respect for this man has grown immensely. Regardless of whether you agree with his policies and political views, he acts as a president should. He's professional. He's respectful. He's kind-hearted. He's charismatic. Regardless of which side you're on, you should at least be able to see all of that. Glad that he was our first black president.

My 2 cents. This isn't how a president SHOULD respond. This goes above and beyond. Let's not kid ourselves into thinking that the POTUS is obligated to respond to a heckler, but he did. We haven't had a president this connected to the people in the modern era, and I really miss him. I gained my citizenship, and it was only possible because of his DACA program. He got too fed up with bureaucracy, and took matters into his own hands to the extent he could. I think the legality of that program will be debated for years to come, but it made real life-changing outcomes happen for millions of us. I don't know of a recent president that singlehandedly achieved that.

A few things. Think he’s way better than Trump, but I didn’t agree with his use of false promises during the election to get votes (all candidates do it, but still). In particular, “la promesa”. His promise for immigration reform, it never happened. Not all his fault, but it was still a false promise. Also with the overall structure of Obamacare.

My absolute favourite part about this is, when security starts to make a move to remove the hecklers, Obama tells him, "No, let them stay." It would have been so easy to let them be escorted out and to continue on and then those folks would go home with a bad taste in their mouth and sense of injustice in them. Instead, he validates them completely, lets them know he heard them, and amazingly said, "I respect your passion." And then, instead of telling them they're wrong or they need to shut it or whatever, he invites them to take action and tells them how. And he justifies his "slow" pace by pointing out, 'I'm not going to break the law. We're going to do this right. I'm going to march and lobby with you. Let's get it done.' Like, damn. Damn. That's diplomacy.
