My house burned down around 20 years ago. Nobody was home and my cat had died a few weeks earlier. As long as everyone is safe, material possessions matter very little. It's good to know that the neighbors in that area were tight knit.

That was nice of James, but let's not forget, he's a Trumper, and with the last serious fire in California, Trump blamed California and refused to give FEMA funds to us. Finally that was reversed, but only because of public pressure. Trump is a monster.

This is why your neighbours are so important to you. For 90% of North America’s family and friends are not close by but in any city we all have neighbour’s. Be a good one say hi don’t over do it if you get the vibes they want privacy but once a month just a friendly node, if you see something in the neighbourhood let them know during that short interaction. It builds an understanding that you see them and respect their rights to be safe.

James Woods spoke about his experience so eloquently, even while shedding tears with the rawness and the magnitude of realizing his neighborhood’s loss. He is one among many where he lived who cared most about each other than about their earthly possessions. Very happy to know his 94-yr-old neighbor who has dementia was found OK and moved to safety. Thank you for sharing this with CNN. It makes it even more real, as if anything would be needed to make living through a wildfire more real. All the prayers for everyone there.🙏
