God what a fabulous man. I’ve only seen him in a couple of movies but what a humanitarian. Asking folks to leave their keys in their cars…BRILLIANT! Don’t slow the work of the firefighters having to push your vehicles out of the way. Quick backstory…I had heart surgery and back surgery in the fall and winter of 2023. I use to have stairs where I live and my observant brilliant sister realized I needed my steps demoed and a handicap ramp put in. My HOA, upon learning of my health condition said they were good. So while I have few friends where I live, I can navigate my ramp!…I could get out (maybe). But Lord my heart is broken. I know the palisades…maybe not like the back of my hand but I did as a kid. I spent several years in the area as a child. My former middle school is gone. Pali High…I haven’t heard if it went up in smoke but for certain it has sustained major smoke damage. I spent many weekends at Will Roger’s State Park and I fear it’s gone. I’m glad the Palisades has someone like Steve Guttenberg who cares enough about others to want to help. Now if we could get the damn fire under control.
@Deb_BG15 сағат бұрын
In fairness, people fleeing a raging fire arent thinking clearly. When news people report AT THE START of these fires, it would be nice if they reminded people to leave keys in cars if forced to abandon them. I know it wouldn't be my first, second or tenth thought. And big, big respect to Guttenberg and others for helping.
@akim215414 сағат бұрын
I’m not sure people would want to leave the keys with their cars. You don’t know if someone is going to come later and steal them instead of just moving it out of the way, out of the goodness of their hearts. There are already reports of looting in L.A. It’s unfortunate that in such a state of emergency, there are people who still take advantage of a terrible situation…but that is the reality. Good for Steve for trying to help, though.
