Clarissa Ward has an excellent way of speaking. Her voice is both captivating and compassionate in her coverage of the medieval-warfare, seige warfare type of invading style that the Russian army is waging against mostly helpless civilian targets in Ukraine. If it wasn't for reporters risking their lives like Clarissa and her colleagues on the ground from CNN and other sister media outlets, we wouldn't see how barbaric this battle of Ukraine has been from the very first day. Can any of us imagine going home after work today and not finding our home or appartment building standing or worse losing a family member in a rocket attack? Imagine only having a toothbrush and the clothes on your back and having to become a refugee in a country with another language? The people that you show us will be in our memory banks till our dying day. The little 7 year old boy that saw his father shot in the head and himself shot several times and only saved because he was wearing a hood when a soldier opened fire on him and missed hitting him in the face will be with me for eternity. How sad are going to have to get before we realize that WW III has for all pracical purposes raised its ugly head above the din of the Ukraine battlefields? We have to do everything we can to help the Ukraine if not just for that little 7 year-old boy. All the other people getting shelled in their homes and appartments and cars and getting gunned down in the streets show us the horror of what we as a people are capable of. Mankind has never changed in spite of centuries of civil society. Evil minds have never lost their grip on the world. Everyone under the sun has been criticizing the Pentagon for its excess spending and now we have to admit that if it wasn't for the Pentagon and every free world country sending arms, we would all be potential victims from agressive autocratic states that plague our planet.

I'm so incredibly proud of my colleagues/brothers and sisters in Ukraine who run into the line of fire to serve their fellow citizens of Ukraine. I just ask that people remember the bravery of these medics after this is over. Often everyone else's bravery gets remembered and talked about while the work of the paramedics go without notice because lives were saved and those survivors tell their stories and the stories of the people who ran towards the bullets at great risk to their lives, they are often lost in the stories and their bravery and risk is taking for granted. From having worked in EMS I know it's the police and the firefighters who get the thanks for their work and nobody seems to have noticed that there's always a couple of medics right there beside the firefighters who put out the fire and the police who took down the shooter. Ive been huddled down behind a police car with officers as bullets were coming our way. Literally nothing scarier than hearing the sound a bullet makes that is sailing by your head and so close you hear the sound it makes. I can't imagine having bombs being thrown at you just for doing your job like these medics are. Medics are the forgotten heroes. They get overlooked all the time because people are just so used to medics just being there it's almost like they just magically appear whenever people need them. Trust me we never just magically "appear" anywhere. Great effort and risks were made to have the magical Genies appear before you in your time of need. And I can certainly promise that the paramedics in Ukraine are not just magically appearing anywhere nowadays. Many are actually getting killed doing their jobs and I really hope the brave stories of these incredibly brave people don't get lost when this is over and done. For decades the medics will go through tremendous PTSD and they are going to need the support of the world to try and get back something that looks similar to something called life. Let's not forget these people after you close your KZbin and go on about your day. Please don't forget the incredible brave journalist who are bringing these stories to the front of the world to see. Give them all the respect they deserve and support their efforts.

People in America probably have a bad relationship with EMS, because they think of how much it will cost them, and their attitude is 'well if i'm paying $xxxxx for them then the least they can do is their job'... I think in other countries they are appreciated more equally with the other services.

Yet another reporting masterpiece from Clarissa Ward (and her team) IMHO, the fact that she is able to conduct her interviews in a tongue which is understandable by the locals bring so much more authenticy to her reports and as bonus she can interview inhabitants spontaneously while a story evolve and do an on the fly translation of what the people saying so the rest of us can follow along. I think CNN is very fortunate to have her working for them.

As solid as her and her teams' work is, I would be nuch more happy if there was a lot less of it. As would most others, them included I am sure. The world's public coverage and insight into this assault is unlike any before it, from everyone and their ferret with a smartphone, to news crews and publicised drone and satellite footage. This has also laid bare the brutal, morbid warcrimes-as-an-operational-norm warfare tactics of Russian militaries, that we've always heard stories and rumors about through the decades - but in a world of mostly good people (including Russian people) we kinda have wanted to believe they're not true, that instances are rare, they are battlefield mistakes, hyperbole, urban legends. But now the whole world knows. Well, ironically - the whole world except a very large part of the Russian population.

They are in a war zone. What did they expect? I thought I would see Russian troops shooting at the ambulance. I saw artillery firing onto a war zone. How do we know this is Russian shelling? I watched the Russians saving civilians in Mariupal also from shelling. That is why war is hell. That is why the Americans should demand Ukraine to go to the peace table. Do you put out a fire by pouring gasoline on it? Then why ate we arming Ukraine? To prolong the war? To prolong the suffering? They will show us the video until we say, we have to get into this war. We have to put our fighter jets in danger to push back putin. Do you want to send your kids into a war? Tell Biden to stop sending military equipment to Ukraine. Only humanitarian assistance. Why is Biden prolonging this war? Why is Biden making these people suffer? Just like our southern border. He lets those human beings suffer also sitting in cages. Vise President doesn't Even care or she would be down there.

There are no words that even begin to express the many emotions one feels when watching this reporting. That Russian soldiers deliberately target civilians. No words. That they then rain down a second salvo, deliberately targeting first responders. No words. That Ukraine needs ambulances. No words. The courage and bravery of these first responders. No words. That they respond to emergencies without the benefit of helmets, other protective equipment or two-way radios. No words. Let us not lose sight of the atrocities being committed every hour of every day by Russian forces. They're not soldiers waging war, justified or not, they're terrorists. Plain and simple. In war, combatants engage opposing combatants. Soldiers and pilots don't target civilians. They don't target schools, kindergartens, hospitals, maternity hospitals, theaters or other shelters. They don't target civilian first responders. Putin's illegal invasion of a sovereign, democratic Ukraine is bullshit. That millions have to flee while many thousands are wounded, maimed or killed, and their cities and towns are leveled by Russian forces, simply because of some artificial border and lack of membership in a kind of exclusive club where all members pledge to come to the aid of any that are invaded, this is also bullshit. If the US and the rest of NATO choose not to directly engage, then at least give Ukraine everything they're asking for. What should be happening is the UN expelling Russia for violating Article 1 of the UN charter. What should be happening is NATO implementing a no-fly zone over the whole of Ukraine. Supposedly we're afraid of "escalating" the conflict to the point that Putin will use nuclear weapons. We haven't given Ukraine the jets they're requesting. Nor have we implemented a no-fly zone. Yet Putin and Lavrov continuing threatening the use of nuclear weapons. If Putin's going to use nukes anyway, let's at least get in the fight. This is a battle for democracy and freedom worldwide. Putin didn't stop at Georgia. He didn't stop at Crimea. He didn't stop in Donbas. And he won't stop at Ukraine. Moreover, China will see this as an opportunity to reclaim Taiwan, and other authoritarian regimes the world over will be likewise emboldened.

@@kidddo9583 While Ukraine a member of both the EU (economic/diplomatic) and NATO (military) makes all the strategic sense in the world, they weren't either due to long-standing, systemic corruption. Ukraine, with its Russian border, as a democratic bulwark would've been wonderful. Perhaps now that Putin has illegally invaded the country, and Zelenskyy is addressing corruption, a new Ukraine will rise like a Phoenix to become a member of the EU and NATO. Following that, Finland and Sweden should both be permitted to join NATO; effectively killing any territorial aspirations Putin may have in Europe. Aside from Belarus, which may as well be Russia, any moves Putin would make westward would immediately elicit a NATO response. Either peace, or WW III. No ambiguity.

There are no words for how much my heart breaks witnessing this level of evil. And yet your words, John, feel like a refreshing blast of SANITY in this mess. It should be so obvious that things are already horrible and the global community needs to do more to help Ukraine. We shouldn't be waiting until things get worse before doing all we can to help. Things are already horrific. This is a fight for democratic principles and any feigned neutrality is simply condoning oppressive dictatorships.
