@@lesleyelalami2562 Negligence isn't a zero-sum game. There were multiple steps in the chain in which people should have shown due caution. Baldwin wasn't just an actor, he was also a producer, and one of the people who had been informed of safety concerns just before the incident in question. Point being, there's at the very least a case worth trying here. I don't know if he would have been found guilty or not, but that was a very real option. It wouldn't have mattered if the armorer was *more* to blame, both could still be to blame. Either way though, we'll never know, because the prosecution undermined the justice system.

"Withholding evidence by a prosecutor during trial" should be a crime punishable by years in jail, a hefty fine, and permanent disbarment from being a lawyer on a second offense. BET YOU if defense attorneys had been caught doing something like this, Mr. Baldwin would be looking at jail time. The fact that these prosecutors are just going to go on with their lives, maybe with an L in their W/L ratio, is really disgusting because they learn nothing but to be more careful with how they withhold evidence the next time. There needs to be CONSEQUENCES for these Prosecutors.

For those of you who have as have I followed this case, it has been apparent for some time that the prosecutors and the police were acting way too arrogant. In their mind, they had made the choices, they made the decisions, they were the law, that they were the case. They had lost their focus on who they are and who they really work for. A prosecutor and the police must never forget that they work for the people. The choices are not their choices, the decisions they do not get to decide. Society long ago has made the choices and the decisions. The police and the prosecutors are required to follow the law as it is written, not the whim of one or the other. The judge made the only decisions she could make based on their conduct Coincidentally, this is the same focus we have seen abandoned in our Supreme Court’s decisions of late and our national politics. Americans need to do as this defense Attorney and Judge have done and draw the line in the sand. Now, and 100 times if needs be, we the people must draw the line in the sand. The line is well known by those knowledgeable of faith and conscience and the law. We must remind our courts and our leaders. Now is the time!

When I was at basic training, they handed everyone five blanks and told everyone to load them into a magazine and then load the magazine into the firearm at all times, just to see who the nitwits were. I witnessed at least two negligent discharges due to mishandling. They should have been discharged from the service then and there before they killed someone. Never, ever point a gun barrel at another human being. Unload, clear, check and discharge in a safe direction. If you can't do that, you shouldn't hand someone a gun. Blanks can kill, and they killed Brandon Lee on the set of The Crow.

This case reminds me of a time about 30 years ago when I had my car brakes worked on. I left with my car and was about 50 miles from home, the brakes seemed to work fine. When I got about three miles from home they suddenly failed and the pedal went all the way to the floor and the car stopped just in time. Fortunately, I had applied my brakes well before they were actually needed and managed not to get in an accident. But, I had left a place where they told me my brakes worked and I had every reason to believe they worked. And then they didn't. Alec Baldwin was handed a gun (supposedly with blanks) and he had no reason to doubt this. We all rely on others to do their jobs. I don't know how to work on brakes. Was I supposed to somehow inspect the mechanic's work prior to getting on the road? The thing is, the brakes did work after that incident - I can only assume an air bubble had gotten into the system and caused this single time failure. But, had I killed someone that day, I would blamed even though it would not have been my fault.

BUT HE COMMITTED NO CRIME. He was an actor following direction by BOTH his Director and his Cinematographer. Why did neither of them say "Whoa, wait a minute! Let's all three of us check first, double and triple check first that the Armourer did her job properly and let us do her job for her and make sure the gun is actually safe!". They did not say that, in fact Halyna herself kept telling Alec to "point the gun toward the camera, and pull the trigger". She was behind the camera. Regardless of being told "the gun is cold" referring to a "condition" it doesn't have ammo in it, a simple check by the person/actor being handed the weapon taking seconds to see if it is indeed "cold" and what type of ammo it has in it would have prevented all of this and a death. A firearm that has any type of ammunition, blank or live, in it is considered loaded, a "hot" weapon means that once the trigger is pulled a detonation of the bullet primer is going to occur. A blank then has a "report" but no projectile. A live round has a projectile exit the barrel. With a revolver, dependent on the style in this case "single action", cocking the hammer will rotate the cylinder with the rounds in it placing a round under the hammer. It is ready to fire with a pull of the trigger. Therefore this revolver was "hot" due to the fact it was loaded with ammunition. It was the wrong ammunition, but it was still loaded.
