I immigrated to Canada in 2012 and lived in Vancouver for six years. All I can say is that the red tape / government services are one of the most daunting in the Western world. The administration is very, very slow and it trickles down into the private sector as well. There are lots of monopolies and a serious lack of competition. I remember cell phone and banking services in particular. There is more competition in countries with just one third of Canada's population. All those years I lived there, the narrative was real estate speculation. No other industries to be found besides building more and more over-priced condos and townhouses. If a country is "only expensive" and does not feature much else than cold weather (snow or bugs), why would it have an appeal to any global working population to move there? The only reason is: those who could not get into the US, go to Canada. And those who don't need to work but just have plenty of cash, buy real estate which they never use or rent out (Chinese overseas investors). This is not how to run a country and I hope for the fine Canadian people that they will be blessed with a government that puts them back on track.

Parliament is now on hold until the end of March, the Liberals are still in power, but Parliament is not sitting and so nothing will happen. Trudeau will still be a sitting MP for his riding, he will still be around. All this means is that the big banks that have parachuted Mark Carney in to try and clean up the mess are in control now and Canada will be restructured. Housing cost became unaffordable when he let lets milion of migrants from Indian and China driving up value. Now it’s hard to get a job that pay wells to pay for the high housing cost and the sale tax is also outrageous. My aunt got to wait 6 months to see a doctor for a bad knee.
