People should see some education videos from US Professor John Mearsheimer, he knew what US planned in Ukraine for many years. Many videos about it, all professor John Mearsheimer predicted would happen. We see now, he was right about everything. It's his job to know what US does, US would not listening to his warnings. The blockade of Ukraine ports that are loaded with wheat is due to Ukraine it's self mining the port obstensively to keep an amphibious landing by russia in the Odesa area... Russia has compleatly inadiquate naval assets in the black sea to mount a amphibious invasion... If this conflict goes on much longer there is going to be food insecurity in much of the southern 'developing' nations... Those who have been on board with the western 'rules based' , IMF order will be at risk of instabillity and default. Especally those in the south who have followed the rules of the west, which include not creating food security will be the hardest hit.... If you listen to what Putin and his advisors say and write repeatedly, it was the plan all along. Ukraine is not a real country to them and the nation does not exist.
@Neion8
@Neion8 2 жыл бұрын
So Putin personally publishing an essay on why Ukraine shouldn't exist titled 'On the historical unity of Russians and Ukrainians' arguing that they are one people and the borders shouldn't exist doesn't suggest that maybe he wants to get rid of the things in the way of him doing that, such as eliminating the differences between them (Ukrainian culture) and removing their ability to ever fight Russia again via annexation? Are you really gonna say the guy quite openly threatening to nuke the British Isles out of existence (despite knowing full well what that means for everyone), has already turned several Ukrainian town and cities into ghost-towns neighbouring mass graves and abducted hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians cares deeply about human life or people's ability to choose? This isn't about restraint, liberation or anything else - it's a powerplay; many of the countries Ukraine feeds (bear in mind, it's a country of 43 million that produces the food for 600 million) are also targets of China's belt and road initiative. By making not only their economies, but their very ability to live dependent on the Russia/China partnership, they make vassals of those countries - which include Egypt, owner of the Suez canal aka the fastest way for European ships to get to the South China sea and aid Taiwan or any other targets of China in the event of a conflict over there. Should Egypt be coerced to block off or even temporarily sabotage the Suez canal, that could delay reinforcments from European countries (as well as European-stationed American assets) by a week or two at least, meaning it's basically whatever America has in the area plus Japan, South Korea and Taiwan vs China (since India is unlikely to throw itself into war on the American/UK side without a damn good reason), which is much more favourable odds. Taking Ukraine would also give that co-operative 46% of the world's supply of graphite (China has 26% of the world's supply, Ukraine 20%) - an important resource for batteries/solar panels etc which will be a massive market in the coming age - as well as making it harder for Europe to wean itself off Russian oil/gas, since it'll need Russian graphite to do so. This isn't a 'special operation'; this is the opening play of the new cold war/potential WW3 aimed at cornering certain markets and forcing the world to be more dependent on Russia/China than vice-versa.

In Ukraine, Russian fascists provoked an energy crisis: destroyed solar panels and windmills The Sivashenergoprom enterprise suffered badly, which built the largest wind farm in the region on the banks of the Sivash. It consisted of 68 giant windmills with a total capacity of 250-300 megawatts. Note that this project was very expensive, over $ 2 billion The Windcraft Chaplinka wind farm, which is part of the 140-megawatt Windcraft-Ukraine wind farm, was also destroyed. Dozens of solar power plants in the Kherson region were also destroyed. The occupiers beat the panels during the shelling or stole them. It is currently impossible to calculate the scale of the damage. This will be done after the war.

@@Pers0002 Russias behaviour and reasons are summed up by the Russuan minister who resigned. Resignation of Boris Bondarev May 2020: "My name is Boris Bondarev, in the MFA of Russia since 2002. Since 2019 to now - Councillor of the Russian Mission to the UN Office at Geneva. For twenty years of my diplomatic career I have seen different turns of our foreign policy, but never have I been so ashamed of my country as on February 24 of this year.The aggressive war unleashed by Putin against Ukraine, and in fact against the entire Western world, is not only a crime against the Ukrainian people, but also, perhaps, the most serious crime against the people of Russia with a bold letter Z crossing out all hopes and prospects for a prosperous free society in our country. Those who conceived this war want only one thing - to remain in power forever, live in pompous tasteless palaces, sail on yachts comparable in tonnage and cost to the entire Russian Navy, enjoying unlimited power and complete impunity. To achieve that they are willing to sacrifice as many lives as it takes. Thousands of Russians and Ukrainians have already died just for this. I regret to admit that over all these twenty years the level of lies and unprofessionalism in the work of the Foreign Ministry has been increasing all the time. However, in most recent years, this has become simply catastrophic. Instead of unbiased information, impartial analysis and sober forecasting, there are propaganda clichés in the spirit of Soviet newspapers of the 1930s. A system has been built that deceives itself. Minister Lavrov is a good illustration of the degradation of this system. In 18 years, he went from a professional and educated intellectual, whom many my colleagues held in such high esteem to a person who constantly broadcasts conflicting statements and threatens the world (that is, Russia too) with nuclear weapons! Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not about diplomacy. It is all about warmongering, lies and hatred. It serves interests of few, the very few people thus contributing to further isolation and degradation of my country. Russia no longer has allies, and there is no one to blame but its reckless and ill-conceived policy. I studied to be a diplomat and have been a diplomat for twenty years. The Ministry has become my home and family. But I simply cannot any longer share in this bloody, witless and absolutely needless ignominy"

Keep hoping, but the latest news is Ukraine's goose is being cooked, a little slowly. Zelensky now talks about negotiated settlement, and security guarantee, but having gone out of his way to provoke Russia with intemperate language and siding with the west, Russia is not interested in negotiations. It is now going to settle for nothing less than dismemberment of Ukraine.

Basic rail (non-electrified) can be repaired at dozens of kilometers a day if you have the crew and equipment for it. No amount of bombing is going to significantly damage the earthen works, so its mainly filling in craters and laying track ... stuff you can do on an industrial scale. The allies barely made a dent in german railway infrastructure, and they had months of total air supremacy. Of course its going to be annoying and slow down logistics, but there is no chance of a permanent knockout whatsoever.

Fair observation. However, interrupting supply lines, especially of NATO munitions does seem to be a sensible military strategy given the situation in the East, especially if it can be done consistently ... A Ukrainian army without arms, ammo and food can't fight and could be surrounded.

There is no blockade for commercial ships in Odessa. There are green corridors being opened daily for 16 hours, free for passage of the ships. The thing that is keeping them from exporting is the fact that Ukrainians mined the coast and let the mines randomly drift around. Now they can't risk ships going through the waters before they are de-mined. Even the Turks complained about Ukrainian mines coming up to their shores.

Around 20,000 UkrainIian troops in the Luhansk region of northern Donbas are facing an encirclement. It's a standard Soviet tactic known as a "Cauldron". Right now it is believed that the Russian military will have completed the encirclement in around 2 weeks. They had been working on creating that perticular cauldron from around a month now. I fail to understand why the Ukrainian high command didn't order those troops to retreat westward to a more defendable position. As things stand, those 20,000 Ukrainian troops will now be lost. Many of them killed, and the rest will surrender. Those 20,000 trained and battle hardened troops are not readily replaceable. And once that happens, that would be a huge strategic blow to Ukraine.

Bc this corrupt government doesn't care about the lifes of those men! (They literally made a law that is forbidding men of fighting age to leave the country, so you have to die for those oligarchs or getting shot/imprisoned as a deserter.) They will be left there without command and declare them having heroically battled. Also they don't need to pay pensions when a soldier is missing in action. The only purpose is to steal more time to get more money and weapons from the west. Probably many of those weapons will end up on the black market.
