Former President George W. Bush tears up while eulogizing his father, George H.W. Bush, at a state funeral in Washington.
The 43rd president said his father, the 41st president, taught him how to lead.
"He showed me what it means to be a president who serves with integrity, leads with courage and acts with love in his heart for the citizens of our country," Bush said. "When the history books are written, they will say that George H.W. Bush was a great president of the United States."
Bush's eulogy ended on an emotional note. Concluding his remarks, he added through tears: "Your decency, sincerity and kind soul will stay with us forever. So through our tears, let us know the blessings of knowing and loving you, a great and noble man. The best father a son or daughter could have."

I WILL say what I want about this man, George H.W. Bush. He was a conspirator and participant in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. How's THAT for a patriot. Cheers for subverting the most scared part of this glorious democracy. Overthrowing a duly elected president and giving the finger to the sacred votes of the American people. MOST Americans don't know this but the information is out there for those who want to find it.

It is if they didn't have extramarital affairs. If they did, this is just a sham of a family picture to grab votes. Many presidents have never divorced, but had many affairs. Their wives ignored it to keep the wealth and power.

Setting aside political opinions, Bush Jr was President when I was ages 10 - 18, so I feel some kind of strange connection to this man. To watch him stand before the country again, not as President, but as a man who lost his mother earlier this year, and now has to say goodbye to his father - and a man with real love and pain in his heart - This video made me cry. Beautiful speech.

I delivered a eulogy to my mother last October age 77. I am 50. My brother and Dad opted not to speak they were too upset. Mum was kind, fun, caring, positive and had many friends. I held it for as long as I could as I didn't want to be a blubbering mess. When I got to 'you were like a Christmas tree or bouquet of flowers that made the world a prettier place I cried. Then regrouped and said our memories, times and experiences we will treasure always, so so long Mum, we love you always x I touched Mums coffin on my way back to my seat in the front row beside my brother and Dad. I flew from the UK to New Zealand in June and October 2023. You are missed. Very much.

Politics aside, Bush Jr. This truly touched me and it reminds us where we all connect to our core of humanity. We all mourn, cry and feel happiness the same. This was the deepest Eulogy I have seen. Life is short and we will all go someday. Let's just remember that we are all human. George W Bush did his dad proud. The fact he lost his Mom and Dad within the same year, shows how close his father was to his Mom. Had to go hold her hand and hug his Daughter.

Best Eulogy I've ever heard. It doesn't matter the political affiliation -- I watched this again because we need to know a country in which we had values, grace, dignity and sacrifice for the American people. Brilliantly spoken for his Dad George H.W., George W. can rest assured that his 'gift' of the final spoken words in the Washington National Cathedral were the best a son could ever grant a father, and a President recognizing another President. Incredibly heartfelt, a poignant reminder of greatness defined and lost, with a son following in his Dad's footsteps.
