@EmilyInALoop Georgia law says a physician can go to prison for performing an abortion (and yes, a d &c of fetal tissue is still a medical abortion) after six weeks of pregnancy. The law does have an exception to prevent the death of a pregnant woman, but physicians say there's no guidance on how to interpret that - and they may have to prove that the women's life is in danger. That's difficult to prove after the fact if their treatment is successful.

She chose to take a pill that would murder, I mean abort, the babies in her uterus. ALL medication comes with risks and this pill has major risks including the sepsis she obtained. The doctors couldn't operate on her because she had sepsis upon her arrival which made her a high risk of dying, period!! Shame on the movement for EXPLOITING her death so they can blame in on "the ban." That is a LIE from the pit of hell!! Just like the other lady said...if it's really only just a clump of cells then why isn't it an easy and happy choice to make? You obviously seem to understand that it is a real live seperate human being growing in a mothers uterus. I understand that some mothers don't want their babies but sometimes people change their minds. Unfortunately this mama died from natural consequences die to her choices in life. It's always tragic when a young parent dies. Most other woman who committed murder, i mean abortion, do suffer with other consequences throughout their life in some form or another, at some point in their lives. So her life was not in jeopardy until she actually started the regiment? She should have had those two sweet babies because now all three of them don’t get to have life. This should open your eyes to the consequences of having an abortion in the first place because even if Georgia would’ve allowed the abortion she would have went through the same regiment most likely because that specific regiment is the most used method by U.S providers. Educate yourselves people. Stop acting on emotion and feelings.

When I did my bioethics dissertation, almost 30 years ago, on postmortem prenatal ventilation, I had a hard time getting an advisor because they said that I was "being hysterical", that there was no way what I was saying would happen, could happen. It's the law now in most red states. Female autonomy has been subjugated to fetal autonomy, and that is a very dangerous place for women in America to be.

This is insane! Why are these doctors afraid?! The physician's Code of Medical Ethics says that there are times when the law is unethical and that physicians should challenge those laws. It also says that under certain circumstances, physicians must go against unjust laws and follow ethical values, the first being DO NO HARM. I understand that some healthcare professionals are afraid right now, but they don't need to be because they know what they are doing is right. If it means saving a life, they must act! I'm not a doctor but I've worked in healthcare for 10 years and if I was a doctor I'd perform an abortion time and again if my patient was dying. IF THE MOTHER DIES, THE BABY DIES, SO SAVE THE MOTHERS FIRST!

Or not telling doctors or hospitals your health history or being honest about it or what other meds you might take, prescription, not prescription whatever..
