One of the most beautiful things that Jason Carter said about President Carter was he demonstrated that you don't have to change who you are to be involved in politics.

I have been a long time supporter of the Carter Center and I met and spoke with Jason, as well as other staff, earlier this year. My sincere condolences to the Carter family and to everyone at the Carter Center. While he received some criticism of his time in office (most of it undeserved), there has never been another ex-president that has done as much for society as President Carter. For example, one of the goals of the Carter Center was to eradicate the guinea worm. In the 1980s, when they started their efforts, there were 3.5 million cases of this terrible disease. Now, thanks to their efforts, there are only a couple dozen cases yearly. President Carter's goal was to have it eradicated in his lifetime, but the fight continues. He truly deserved his Nobel Prize!

Didn't drink or smoke and was religious which means less stressing over things that do not matter and comfort in the hard times. I saw a movie once where some explorers got into a bad place and the two members that were religious were calm whereas the non believer was freaking out. The Muslim and Christian told him sometimes you have to just let go and leave things in bigger hands than your own. Carter did that.

His faith, connections to family and community, and sense of purpose through humanitarian work definitely helped him live to 100 however he wasn’t as healthy in his elderly age due to a family history with cancer. He outlived his last sibling by 35 years which is extremely impressive. I wish Carter had lived to 110 (which is theoretically possible) so he would go down in history as one of the oldest politicians ever.

What a wonderful legacy the former President Jimmy Carter leaves behind. He and his beloved wife, Rosalynn Carter, have touched so many peoples lives for the better because of their service to America and humanity. In fact, it would not be flattery to say they were an inspiration to many people of different faiths, as well as progressive Christians. Thank you for sharing your grandfather's life stories with us. He stood up for what was right in the deep south when few people would have. It's hard to stand up for your beliefs when you're being persecuted and no longer welcomed in some circles anymore. But, he's welcomed in the Lord's circles now. Amen! "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, 🫴 and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith." ~ 2nd Timothy 4:6-7 (NKJV) "Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." ~ 2nd Timothy 4:8 (NKJV) 🕊 Have a Happy New Year! 🕊

Wow, didn’t realize he was 50! But if you watch old movies, some of the people who are in their 30’s look to be like 50year olds in the 21st century. 50 is not what it used to be. There’s a scripture in the Bible that says there will come a time when someone less than 100 when they die will be considered cursed! If you notice, more people are living to their 90’s than ever before. In the not to distant future, living to 100 will be common.

I didn't grow up in the depression era but if something isn't broken then keep the old. I don't need a new toy ipad or whatever to be ok. People forgot how to talk to one another and it's sad.

@eden3094 It’s true. John Tyler had 15 children. His 13th child, Lyon Gardiner Tyler, was born in 1853 when John Tyler was 63. Lyon Gardiner Tyler fathered Harrison Ruffin Tyler in 1928 when the former was 75.

What's refreshing is you're only the second person out of like 100 comments that brought Trump into it, things are indeed already getting better.
