Oh, dude, Social Security has been running at a deficit for decades. It is debt because it pays out more than it takes in but as it's an "entitlement" the government pays whether the money is in the account or not. We are incurring SS debt. These are easily found facts just google it before spreading all kinds of misinformation? Why is SS in debt? People paid in a lot less than they are sucking out of the system by living way way longer than anticipated and industrial medicine wants to keep everyone alive until they are 100 years old because that's very good for their business. Also without a population explosion of people to pay into the system it's always going to run as a debt. When SS was created people's "retirement" years were a few years, not a few decades. But all this is available easily on the internet.

The debt does not come from mandatory spending. The debt is caused by tax cuts for billionaires! You can't cut taxes for the super rich and still expect to pay the nations bills! Social Security and Medicare are paid for by taxes on our earnings. If Congress would do it's job and pass legislation to make billionaires pay their fair share of taxes, we wouldn't need to raise the debt ceiling.
