The difference is the level of commitment and intimacy that the Republican base has with its political leaders. Of all the mistakes the Republicans has made i haven't heard the base say "you only come around every four years" but i have definitely hear that from the democratic base. Dems need a deeper connection and yes language (communication) with the pillars of the base of their party. If your base is not giving you the green light the responsibility fall on the political leadership to respond. Dems has a more diverse coalition so more effort (money) should be spend reinforcing what they have in common in progressive values that benefits the base both the working class and elites. Republican base and Democratic base both have specific drivers or triggers to get them to vote in mass. Its up to the political leaders to correct identify those drivers by developing the right connection or intimacy with their base as beautiful words alone will not work in our modern society. As Americans both base wants political leaders who are gear to Win and the actual race or gender is a after or 2nd thought once the Winning criteria is met. I agree with Julie that the Democrats have a messaging problem. However, Democrats also have a policy problem. Democratic politicians like policies that cause inflation (e.g., $5 trillion of COVID spending programs), but most Americans hate inflation. Democratic politicians seem to be happiest when house prices are far above fair market value, but most potential homebuyers hate having to pay prices that are far above fair market value. Democratic politicians like to pick winners and losers. For example, people with kids are winners, and people without kids are losers. Why can’t Democratic politicians promote the general welfare, such as enacting a single-payer healthcare system that will benefit all Americans?

Wow! Julie nailed it. Most Americans in the middle do not want to hear about some of these identity political issues (pronouns, transgender athletes competing in women’s sports, etc). I live in Central PA (voted for Harris). My neighbors voted for Trump because of these issues and immigration. Democrats need to stop trying to grab every little category/demographic. Talk to the majority of people. And talk to them like you would your neighbor. You’re going to offend someone somewhere. That’s ok. Show compassion and respect to all people. But don’t try to normalize some of these issues to most Americans who don’t think those issues are normal. Or keep doing it and lose.

The Democratic party used to look at middle income and impoverished people as their main priority, regardless of race or gender. That is no longer the case. To most people this doesn't say "common sense" anymore. Democrats moved further left and increasingly lost touch with everyday Americans. They put acceptance over tolerance, and equity over equality. They tried to force these ideas on people which increased the resistance in the growing conservative movement.

Has anybody looked at the fact that about 14 million people vote. In 2020 the vote count was Biden 81 million to Trump 72 million. In 2024 Harris 68 million to Trump's 71 million.

It's not just the lack of communication. It's also that we never did anything about illegal border crossings and immigration laws. We are the party of "let them in" and open borders, which is unacceptable. Additionally, we are too focused on LGBTQ rights. They represent about 3% of the population, yet it seems like their issues make up 25% of our platform. We can be tolerant, but we shouldn't endorse their way of living or claim that it's universally acceptable. And finally, we should be meritocracy-based and avoid endorsing benefits and socialist ideals as readily as we do in California. We should create opportunities for all but should not be so quick to provide aid when it isn’t needed.

I’m a voter who typically switches between parties and I don’t think this lady (first speaker) is really hitting the mark. Both parties have their weird “isms” that don’t matter but I currently prefer to put up with the Republican flaws this election simply because I have more confidence in the Republican party’s ability to be an effective administration. Specifically regarding the economy and involvement in foreign conflict. They are supposed to be the Party of Labor, but Black and Latino men do not get those good paying Union jobs. Fix how Black and Latino men can improve their station in life. Forgiving Student loans, Home Down Payment, Business Capital...ALL THAT IS GREAT but MOST BLACK MEN are High School Drop Outs, read at a 4th Grade level, and earn less than $15 per hour, probably most Latino men too. Where is the EFFORT IN HELPING THAT TO IMPROVE. Everybody is giving money to building prisons or giving Tr*nz free tax payer s*x change operations or bringing Tr*nz in the Military (a major reason recruiting is down)...WHERE IS THE MONEY AND EFFORT TO HELP NON COLLEGE EDUCATED MEN GET AHEAD?
