I believed Jane Fonda and Ted Turner would make the ideal couple, Before they got together... And I was So Happy when they got married!! I am happy to learn they still love each other... they are extremely suited for each other.. both courageous, out spoken, compassionate, and ideal... I thought they would make an ideal match before they began even dating.... Two people I respect most in public life.

Ted was a Southerner, traditional and inflexible. Jane was a modern woman from CA and I didn't think she adapted in a traditional marriage.

@@fondaturner8289 Did you know them??? I heard Ted wanted Jane around. And she made the decision to stop making films.Never heard or knew Jane independently wanted out of the biz. IF she ever said this I heard otherwise. Jane was a talented and gifted actress. Would seem odd to me. IMO we missed out on many years of potential movie making. Talent and beauty.

@@m.e.d.7997 She said in countless interviews that she wasn’t happy and she couldn’t be creative when she was unhappy - this was before Ted came along... She even told Oprah that menopause also caused her to stop acting . Ted was NOT the reason she quit acting in the first place , but once she got with Ted she didn’t really want to go back. She didn’t miss the acting because she focused her time on other things (mostly being with Ted and her charities) ... Then she went back to acting in 2005

Jane's interesting psychology; again she powerfully connects with anyone who resembles her father.
@DivineSimply3 жыл бұрын
Excellent observation. Having lost myown dad to suicide when I was 3, I have a theory about Jane's life and doings - they're all father-based. Though he loved his children, he couldn't let himself express affection. Henry was emotionally unavailable and cold, and it scarred her. She's spent the rest of her life responding to him, either to piss him off, as she did in the early days, orlater, to achieve, achieve, achieve in order to get his attention and approval. She still can't speak of him without crying. The father/daughter dynamic is powerful.
@Omnicient. Жыл бұрын
And no doubt for millions: the mother/daughter dynamic is at play and variations on it. 'We're only ever what people make us' is a phrase of mine. Lauren Bacall married Jason Robards who had a striking resemblance to a later day Bogart, and Lauren, of course, denies a link to it as most people have a tendency to. Jane alters her appearance every time we see her which could be another avenue off it and appears to use interviews as forms of analysis as though trying to reassure herself all the time.

IRWIN SHAW IS ALSO GOOD IN, "THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE", AND IT IS AS GOOD IN SCRIPT, AS, "THE GUNS OF NAVARONE", BUT " . . . Ted Turner reflecting on his marriage to actress Jane Fonda reminded me of something else. Perhaps looking a wee bit into the future, Peter Haskell (032-30-1136) said in 1986 that he could knock out a book in six weeks and a marriage in four. It's unrelated to Addie Pray

Hanoi Jane on North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun: A few hundred yards from the location of this photograph, American POWs were being subjected to all manner of torture at the "Hanoi Hilton." You can read about one of those POWs, Col. Roger Ingvalson, whose aircraft was shot down by an NVA-AAG similar to the gun Hanoi Jane is straddling.Fonda called returning POWs "hypocrites and liars," adding, "These were not men who had been tortured. These were not men who had been starved. These were not men who had been brainwashed. ... Pilots were saying it was the policy of the Vietnamese and that it was systematic. I believe that's a lie."
