Yeah, Christie's facing the tough question but listen to what he's saying. He immediately gets defensive and criticize the person who asked the question as not knowing their facts. Then he tells them that what he's doing is good enough and that you should accept it. He comes off as arrogant and defensive and I think there's a different more kinder way of responding that doesn't involve "You Don't know anything, get outta here. He said "I don't know how you can continually say something that's wrong and still have the mic in your hand." He's trying to intimidate the public so that they stop pressing him on these issues and no wonder he was very unpopular. Because he doesn't an ability to get along with his enemies. He has his point of view, his facts and you can take that or the highway. He doesn't do well in front of crowds because he's combative and unwilling to talk things out kindly and fairly.

Good analogy. Here's one. Mom: I have to work long night shifts to keep us financially stable. So when I'm gone I need you to feed the kids and you never feed the kids. You never make them dinner and they always go to bed hungry. Dad: Would you call it never feeding the kids when I make them a gigantic feast every Sunday? I do feed the kids Mom: that's good that you do that, but you're not doing enough. The kids shouldn't starve the other 6 nights of the week. You need to make them dinner the other 6 nights of the week. Dad: You're wrong. I told you I feed them great on Sunday nights. Therefore, I am not letting our kids go hungry. Let's not address the fact that the 6 other nights they starve. I'm sorry if you believe that all of our kids should have food every night whenever they are hungry and I don't believe in that parenting. I can't believe how wrong and factually incorrect you are for saying I don't feed our kids. How are you still holding the mic.

@Greg Fakerson you say obama care is about insuring the poorest americans but obama care is not affordable. I know people who got on obama care and could not afford it because it costed them up to 400 a month. They said it was going to be affordable but in reality wasnt, once again they lied and promised something they could not deliver, then those that did not have health insurance was penalized on their taxes, please explain to mean how thats helping poor vulnerabile Americans?
@matthewcortecero703

Derrick Lyons you know why? because its a public option, it puts all the poor people onto the public option, while all the rich fucks keep their private insurance and bankrupt the system. thats why m4a is the only way to insure every american has adequate healthcare. look at all the European countries that have nationalized health industries. they pay 1/2 as much as us and insure EVERYONE

@@matthewcortecero703 so your basically trying to create a monopoly. That doesn't do anything but make prices skyrocket to the poin where no one can really afford it. If i have different types of healthcare to choosr from then the prices can lower based on the market, but if its just one healthcare plan the government can charge what they want for it and its nothing we can do about it because i wouldn't gave the option to choose from another provider because they got rid of all the private healthcare companies. Monopolies make it worse for the consumers, this is basic economics. If you shut down those private healthcare providers do you know how many jobs would be lost, is the government gonna provide those people with jobs? So your basically making healthcare cost higher while also putting thousands of people out of work, i dont think thats helping the poor and middleclass, just because something sounds good doesn't mean it is good.

In a free country people are free NOT to buy health insurance if that is what they want to do. Obviously America is no longer a free country. One BIG reason health care is so expensive is what economists call "3rd party payers". If you wanted to go to a restaurant but someone else was paying for the meal with money they got from a 3rd person both you and the payer don't even know would you care about cost? No. You would go for steak and lobster.

Notice how Christe calls the Affordable Health Care Act , Obamacare (which I do have to admit, I hope congress does eventually rename it official to Obamacare), and then tells the woman he is addressing that he didn't mention political parties; he's masterful at manipulating a conversation, IMHO. It's like Bridgegate, he always seems to manipulate things and then acts as though he didn't start the controversy. As far as settling with an Oil company for the best interests of his constituents, he has lost all trust, again, IMHO, when he made congestion worse in New Jersey and New York, NY as he apparently did in Bridgegate, just to diss out political revenge! (Also, the idea of Chris Christie having been United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey, really scares me about our judicial system - once again, IMHO, I wouldn't have trusted him to administer his judicial responsibilities justly!)

If 'honestly' you can't work. go to a church or family member and ask for help. DO NOT make it law that the entire country must give you charity. When you make charity mandatory by law, it is the same as making robbery or thievery legal.

I dont mind paying taxes to help those who truly cant work such as the elderly or disabled but we already have that in medicare and medicaid. Obamacare is much more than your statement. Its essentially communism since government is taking over health care. Eventually companies will drop their own health care plans and push employees to go on the exchange. The government wants everyone on the exchange not just those who cant work. Eventually the government will recognize that people rather just pay the fine than pay the monthly fee so it will become another tax on your paychecks. It will become one big, inefficient, expensive government program with substandard care and high taxes. This is what people get when they vote for liberals. They get the same promises that Fidel Castro, Mao Tse Tung and Stalin made.

Because he has the knowledge, he operates on facts and a lot of people nowadays lose it when faced with the facts. I look at the comments and see that most of them are going on and on and on about his weight(???) That tells me that the ONLY fact they are willing to deal with is that this man is overweight. Nothing else! Also, that informs me that they really have nothing else to say, nothing of great substance, nothing relevant. All they have to offer are shallow remarks. He refuses to "roll over" for them! He will tell them how it is and that is something they are not use to seeing in a politician. Good for him!

I do not live In NJ and I lack a detailed grasp of this issue, but I have a modest proposal for everyone here (inc Gov Christie). To better clarify and de-clutter the endless debate about public health care, let us consider the following: Starting tomorrow ALL state and federal elected people have ZERO health coverage! Governors, senators , congressmen and members of the federal cabinet have to pay out of pocket for any medications, surgery, Dr appointments etc. Now we are ready to have a serious and clear-minded talk about Medicare for All! When politicians from both parties are "feeling the pain" of unpaid bills, they will start to think clearly and stop ignoring the common people Permanently! No one should suffer pain and early death in a wealthy country like America! The best Drs and hospitals and medical research are there and should be put to better use! A viewer in Canada...😊

no shit. Look what happened back in the mid 90's when the government decided ALL Americans should have the right to own a home. People were allowed to take out loans on homes they had no business buying because they either had shitty ass credit or didn't make enough money. Then when their mortgage payment escalated and they couldn't afford to pay it, they walked away & the housing bubble burst.
@TheNavigateur

msmithstud If only you had any idea what you were talking about. Nothing you said is true. Most government-regulated loans DIDN'T go bust. The sub-prime fraud was mainly in NON-regulated loans. You can easily verify this, but the very same type of fraudsters brainwashed you easily. Sub-prime was a deliberate PRIVATE-sector fraud which they used to bet against something which they fraudulently packaged as safe, while ensuring that the rates would balloon out of control, so that they could collect billions out of it. Nothing to do with government regulation. In fact, in government-regulated loans this was illegal so it happened a lot less. You can easily verify this.

In 1992, the Government Sponsored Enterprises law required HUD's secretary to make sure housing goals were being met, and every 4 years, set new goals for Fannie & Freddie. Clinton revised the Community Reinvestment Act in 1995. It put pressure on banks to give ALL minorities, especially low income minorities, loans to buy homes. Throughout the 90's, banks lowered their mortgage standards, mortgage rates remained high. The laxity was spreading, but the incentives for borrowers to refinance even under relaxed standards remained low. New buyers often still didn't know that some of the loosey-goosey mortgages existed. Speculators had an internet bubble, so they weren't yet attracted to real estate. Treasury rates were not so low that investors seeking yield would pour into mortgage backed securities. Securitization levels were low enough that banks weren't yet willing to fully embrace the loose standards. The historical data on default and loss rates from the lax lending were not yet available, so they weren't embraced by banks or the broader market. A few years later, the fed pushed rates down. This made refinancing more attractive,and created an investor demand for yield. Fannie & Freddie popularized low income securitization. Low defaults & loss rates from lax loans made them seem not as risky as previously expected. A shrinking consumer asset base thanks to the dot com bust created a demand for home equity loans and high loan to value loans, as consumers exchanged high interest credit card debt for low interest home debt. Speculators seeking higher returns and ordinary home buyers became aware that lax lending standards would allow them to buy bigger houses with little or no money down. In short, the lax lending standards created in response to the CRA had dug a pit that was waiting to get filled when the circumstances were right. The CRA was a factor in lowering lending standards. This was a necessary ,although not sufficient, cause for the mortgage mess. The 'no money down' mortgages were required by the CRA. Andrew Cuomo, secretary of Housing & Urban Development, made a series of decisions between 1997 & 2001 that gave birth to the country's financial crisis. He took actions that helped plunge Freddie & Fannie into the subprime markets w/out putting in place the means to monitor their increasingly risky investments. He turned the FHA morgage into a lender with sky-high loan ceilings and no money down, and he legalized what a federal judge has branded 'kickbacks' to brokers that have fueled the sale of overpriced & unsupportable loans. Both Clinton & Bush were in complete agreement about maximizing home ownership, each trying to lay claim to a record % of homeownership & both describing their efforts as a boon to blacks & hispanics. HUD, Fannie & Freddie were their instruments, and, as is now apparent, the more unsavory the means , the greater the grownth.
@TheNavigateur
@TheNavigateur 10 жыл бұрын
msmithstud Nice copy-and-paste of a brainwash piece that partly explains how you got that opinion - now tell me exactly why more subprime lending was done by unregulated banks than regulated ones? What exact "government" penalties were imposed for not engaging in subprime? The answer is none.
